Various Hashers around the world seem to put on a Red Dress run at some time or other, many pictures of these on the internet.

The above pics are from the Red Dress Run 08 New Orleans.

Looks a lot of fun, more beer drunk than running I think.

I'll look out for the runners at the time of the run. Good Luck.

Only a comment: I showed these pictures to a group of Thai people in Hua Hin and they weren't amused. My TGF talked with them for about 10 minutes trying to explain it was a fundraiser for a good cause. They were still quite upset (and something about Buddha) about the colour red. I'm not an expert about Thai/Buddha culture, but I thought I would pass along these comments.

Sorry CC and Richard, but I have no idea what you are talking about.
This has nothing at all to do with Buddha or Muay Thai.
The colour is Red - not orange.
Please explain.

I sometimes wear red too but I'm not a Thaksinian.
If that's your only label so be it.
It's red for the day and that's it.

OK

I agree

But I'm not Thai and this is Thailand. They label in a different manner to us

Anyway red is my favourite colour and we'd all be labeled as crazy farangs anyway   :thumb:

Please let's return to the original topic about the Red Dress Run and keep the politicians and their supporters out of the debate.

red dress run

Post by IHF »

seems the Hash is non political or religious anything else, the only reason we wear a red dress is because of tradition, long before people wore yellow or red for political reasons, you could make a comment about any colour!

Man utd v Liverpool, Arsenal all wear red!!!!

There are hundreds or thousands of THAI hashers all around the country, and I have never heard 1 complain, because we know we are doing it for a bit of fun and raise money for charity.

we have also green dress runs on st patricks day and other colours, but its not the color that counts its the cause.
