Pala-U Road Widening

Post by Cowtown Comedy »

The surveyors are busy working on Pala-U near the bypass road, so I assume all of Pala-u is getting upgraded. They are moving full steam ahead on paving the section near elephant village. I drive on this widowmaker everyday so the upgrades are more than welcome. :)

So, are you saying they are working all the way from the bypass to Elephant Village?

If they are widening the whole length, it might explain why the viewpoint close down.

I'm not sure of the plan Guess, I only noticed 3-4 survey crews working on Pala-U near the bypass. Dangerous stretch of road with too much traffic.

For those that don't know they are also widening the crossing next to Gee-Untung supermarket, it's going to go more straight accross rather than the swerve job it is now. They strengthened under the rails about a month ago.

The Municipality said: "After improvement, the traffic system will be improved because of a widened road, cars will be running in both in up & down directions so there will be a continuous flow of traffic and this will make driving out to the bypass road easier than ever", also: "a new railway fence and warning sound system when a train is coming."

It's good to see they have considered traffic running "in up & down". I wonder if they have given any thought to:

Driving on the wrong side of the road,
Overtaking on the crossing,
Ladies on the phone and checking their makeup,
4 teenagers on a bike overtaking on the inside and turning right.
Flash gits with the stereo so loud they don't notice a train coming,
Vehicles with no lights,
Bus drivers that think they own the road

etc., etc., etc.
