Thai wife/G/F

Post by richard »

Anybody know of a new EEC law to allow a Thai wife to lay a claim on an individuals EEC assets in the case of a split/divorce??? :? :?

British Embassy has it's head in the sand about everything these days :guns: :guns:

Only thing I heard recently, not sure if it's true, but the girl needs to be a UK citizen to lay claim to physical assets of a former husand in the UK.

Just hearsay, I must admit, but heard it recently as I recently knew a girl in the same position and that was the answer I got.

As said, not sure if it's true, others would probably know more. Forgive me if I'm wrong.

In which case, of course, she's a British wife. No recent changes there!

Richard, presumably you've asked the Embassy and had no response?

Are you talking about a Thai wife living in the UK (in which case why shouldn't she be so entitled - isn't that one of the things we keep talking about here?) or in Thailand? (Even then there might be an arguable case... all my worldly goods... assets is assets...).

Where does the G/F come in to all of this?

Married to a Thai is sufficient. Divorce in the UK - UK law applies.

Divorce in LOS, even after living in the UK, and you could get lucky, depending on your viewpoint.
