Free Yoga and 'Laughter Yoga!'

Post by MrPlum »

I have been fortunate enough to benefit from many different teachers over the years in a variety of disciplines. Now I would like to pass on some of that knowledge to others, outside of the retreats I run.

Beginning next month, I'm conducting Yoga sessions at my home, perhaps twice per week, depending on level of interest. The idea is, we have a 1 1/2 to 2 hour session, commencing around 5pm or can add a session early to mid morning, perhaps on the weekend. If you think another time would be more suitable, feel free to let me know. People can use the pool, chat, or toddle off home, whatever they wish.

The venue is comfortable and spacey with nice views overlooking HH.

It doesn't matter what level you are at. I will be teaching beginner to intermediate. My style is based primarily on Sivananda Yoga, with the odd flourish of my own to give the impression I know what I'm doing. The course will be fairly generic in that it includes Pranayama (breathing), prone, sitting and upright postures, ending in deep relaxation.

Cheers

MrP

I would have loved to have taken you up on this. I think you should have many takers.
Would love to have reviews and pictures of those that do take part... :D

Will be happy to oblige, Randy.

I've done this before in the sunny Algarve. I would expect 5 or 6 regulars and half a dozen 'occasionals'. Once the 'laughter yoga' takes off, which I'm sure it will, I may have separate sessions just for that.

Someone said 'Yoga makes you personally perfect and socially useful'. Nice thought. :thumb:

Thanks Mr Plum. I have been reading into Buddhism practises lately, not to follow it as a religion but to perhaps seek a little inner happiness.
Yoga I suspect would help with the meditation side...

I was introduced to meditation many years ago by an inspiring article in the Telegraph supplement called 'Ice Cream For The Mind'. It was about Transcendental Meditation. I signed up immediately. There are different types of 'meditation' as I'm sure you are aware. From mantras to concentration exercises, visualizations, breath awareness and more. Just sitting in the garden in quiet reflection is beneficial.

Hi Jim

Thanks for the interest.

Yes, Wednesday 4th at 5pm. You are most welcome. Will email directions.

If you have a Yoga mat bring one. If not, either I will provide one or you can pick one up in HomePro or Tesco. The 6mm thickness is most comfy for your knees. A beach towel or light blanket is also useful. If you want a dip in the pool after the session, bring some trunks. Check with me first, though, as it's having some maintenance done and may need another day or two to be swimmable.

Hi Mr P -

Many thanks for reply/ info and the PM with location etc details.

How did the first session go?

I hope to be there next Wednesday. Maybe better to book a massage for afterwards to ease some of those aches I'll get after so many 'lazy' months!!

How's it going so far? Well, more people are showing up for the Sunday session than the weekday. I had 8 last Sunday. A good turnout. All beginners. :thumb:

PLEASE NOTE: I'm dropping the midweek session due to less interest for that time slot and the fact that I'm very busy.

THERE WILL ONLY BE ONE SESSION ON SUNDAYS, starting 0930. You can pitch up at 9 if you want a dip in the pool or unwind before we start.

Since Mr P advertised his (more than) generous offer I have been joining him and a few others for the yoga sessions.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the sessions. Very relaxed. Lots of breathing techniques and exercises; stretching; all with lots of relaxing time too. And a nice friendly atmosphere. Great feeling afterwards too.

If anyone is looking for some yoga sessions then I can certainly recommend some time with Mr P.

Looking forward to seeing some more new faces.

(PS - I have no interest other than to make a recommendation for a good class!)
