XP versus Vista for Printer/scanner/copiers

Post by Khundon1975 »

I ran a Packard Bell notebook with XPsp2 loaded and had a HPpsc 1215 all in one connected, no problems.
Then I bought a new Toshiba wide screen all singing all dancing Equium running Vista home premium, connected the HP psc and some of the features did not work (scanner/copier buttons etc).
Went to so many forums with questions on drivers etc even HP site.
No one was able to help me and HP site only offered a round about fix that really peed me off.
HP don't seem to care, all they want is for me to get another computer.
It seems Vista does not like some HP psc models, full stop!
So unless anyone out there has a good fix then beware if updating your computer to Vista model, you may end up having to buy a new printer as well.
I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.

multi function

the reason you get snubbed by manufacturers is that vista is such an awful product and is soon to be replaced with windows 7
any old hardware most manufacturers wont waste time writing vista comnpatible drivers for because its on a short product life - microsoft themselves seem to be embaressed how awful vista is

Yep, 7 is already available for beta download here:

Even M$ are brushing Vista under the carpet to pave the way for their new baby - which will run on old computers apparently, at least they'll be old by the time 7 hits the shelves!

:P Hi baron_wastelanduk

Yes I agree with you, Vista is crap, you would think Microsoft with all it's Billions could come up with something better than that. I don't hold out much hope for Win 7 either.
It is always us poor mugs who seem to have to "do the product testing" for them, look at how many patches there were for XP their so called wonder OS.
Thanks for your comments. :thumb:

Thanks for previous PMs
