Pork before the swine
Pork before the swine
Frequently one finds something new in old haunts. For several years already one's been feeding one's face
at the little restaurant in the railway station park. Coming west up the Damnokasem one hangs a left at the
crescent skirting the park and parks at the park. While all the food in the restaurant is good, particularly the
Khao Kha Moo is exceptionally tasty and succulent. See for yourself.

Saw the slide show, food looks ok.
Do we get to eat the frog as well.

I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.
Frog curry
I tried frog curry in a Laos restaurant in Pattaya - It looked Ok until I bit something hard and was informed that they leave the bones in...........

From the taste of the gritty dish I had in Issan, I wouldn’t be surprised if the whole thing was in there. I don’t really know because I never saw it being prepared but the people around that way are not renowned for being picky about which bits of animals you can eat.
When I was up there last year, one of the old boys gave me a demonstration of frog hunting using a bamboo blow-pipe which was very impressive.
He was able to skewer them from about five to ten meters away by shooting a length of sharpened bamboo with cotton wool around the end to seal it in the pipe.
Apparently you can get that close to the frog without scaring it off as it can’t see the blow-pipe pointing at it.

These were big things Randy that hang around the banks of the irrigation ponds and when you get near to them they jump in the water and swim away.
In fact one tried to make a getaway with the dart skewered through it, but the old boy jumped in the water and grabbed it.
I wish I’d had a camera with me because it was quite entertaining, (by Issan village standards anyway!)
