It is interesting that so far we have no figures given when more than half the HH readers are probably bar experts.

Personally I would like the same figures given for a Standard measure of Vodka and Tonic. The highest I have found is Bht 140 at El- Murphy's, but I am more interested in the lowest!

Must be a different cider - I paid 200 bht for a pint of stowfords. Excellent cider and well chilled though I should add. I was merely commenting n price - not meaning to criticize etc etc

niggle,
I was there last night and the Stowfords cider is excellent, and as Bill has pointed out, is only 150 baht per pint. Lovely on a hot day like it has been recently.

niggle, I didn’t think for one minute you were criticizing, oh no. If I had, ooooooh I would have jumped right down your throat, don’t you worry about that young man.
It's new pricing, we get it cheaper so you do.

As for the bulk take away price and reasonable variety try Makro.
As an aside does anyone know where to buy slabs (cans) of Chang draught and Chang Light?? Tesco sells individual cans - told don't like slabs as people don't like it!!!!!

Charlish,

By slabs I assume you're talking about cases of 24 cans. I usually buy cases in the small bottles so I'm not certain about cans but you can probably get them at any of the three wholesale liquor outlets in town.

Halex is the biggest one and it is in that little row of shops just south of the Grand Market. There's another good one called Cathay (I think) that is on the bus station street across from All In Hua Hin. There is a third one on the east side of Petchkasem road heading north from the traffic lights. It's a bit smaller but I know they sell cases of beer there. I think you can find that one by a big Singha sign on the building.

22 bt for a can of chang in Naab Thong restaurant,35bt heineken .90 bt for a large famous grouse at the car wash bar and restaurant on the way to the fishing lodge 100bt for a generous glass of wine at the fishing lodge .Bars in town cannot match prices like this because of their overheads .150 bt for a pint of cider is the cheapest I have ever come across here .

Charlesh, the whole-saler that HHF mentions opposite All-in Hua Hin was selling cases of Chang Light last year. The only other place I’ve seen them is in one after the Palace heading north on the left, which I think is possibly the same company.
I admit I haven’t been in either for a while, so you will have to try your luck.

Noted that indeed cider at BB (on the menu) was either 100 or 200 - perhaps out of date. The Draught Chang was 70 and Tiger bottle (small) 90.
I gather the Mai Tai advertises Draught Chang at 45 (glass).

Can someone tell me why draught beer (when you can find it) is more in keeping with the English style ie; not cold ?? Don't they have Temprites or chillers?
I have never had a warm/cool beer at the Suanson (sea pines Army restaurant). Always nice and chilled. Will check the price tonight but big bottle Chang (660) ml is ~60Bht.
