Scooter Invasion, Hua Hin, 19th Jan 05

Post by dr dave soul monsta »

Wednesday the 19th Jan witnessed an invasion of classic and vintage motor scooters (not quite an invasion due to most of the scooters being from the Hua Hin area). Over 40 motor scooters made a procession around the streets of Hua Hin, starting from Golden Place and finishing at the Sofitel Central Resort. Their mission was to promote a seminar for the conservation of energy and resources not only in Thailand but universally. The seminar from Krasuamg Palang Ngan is on tour in Thailand and will be visiting every province over the next few months.

Presided over by minister for the Prachuap Kiri Khan province,
The seminar at the Sofitel was dealing with issues over saving energy and resources.alternate energy sources ,recycling etc etc

Why were the local scooter club were involved?

That one is quite simple the club name says it all "30 max speed" they all own and restore their own vehicles to standard condition and pride themselves on this (recycled motor cycles), saving precious materials resources and a MAX SPEED of 30 saving fuel. The procession of classic and vintage scooters turned heads as it travelled through the streets of Hua Hin, locals and tourists alike although I'm not quite sure the slow procession did a great deal for air pollution for a hour or so. Regardless, it was a great sight to see.

Hua Hin Classic Scooters loaned 4 scooters to visiting English scooterists to add a international flavour the event which was well received by the seminar, channel 11 television, and ITV who were covering the seminar at Hua Hin.

Everybody can do their bit to save precious recourses, fuel, materials or energy, especially those visitors from Bangkok who can't be bothered (to lazy)to walk around the narrow streets of Hua Hin but insist on driving in narow soi's in large SUV's and their precious mercedes & bmw motor cars causing mayhem, frayed tempers and traffic jams that rival those found in the nations capital.
