My place is just around the corner from Winner, and it’s about 4km to the centre of town.
I don’t really recommend a motor-bike for buying furniture, but I did once see a man in Indonesia delivering a double bed with a bicycle so it’s not impossible!

Hi Dianachris :thumb:

There is a great wicker furniture shop the other side of Cha Am, on the other side of the road as you swing round to join the main highway to BK, going north.

If it is still there!

Good luck and happy hunting.

Hi there - yes I agree with Kuhndon there - wicker is cheap, hard wearing, and suited to the climate.
Also worth a look is the April market, where you usually find some beautiful teak furniture at good prices, as well as the usual upholstered stuff. But that April market tends to move around, and I don't know where it will be this year.
Couple of good local stores not far down the PalaU road as well, just before the turn off at the canal. One sells wood furniture, including outdoor stuff, and smaller pieces, lamps etc. The other (on the bend at the canal bridge) sells the upholstered suites - which are fine if you have a closed aircon environment. If you like to leave doors open though upholstered chairs are a haven for anything that wanders in!

Hi Margaret

I sat in their wicker workshop for a couple of hours one day, enthralled at the skills they had.

Skills that are fast dying out in the UK.

Agree with you, there are some very good shops in HH now, inc is it Siam Teak?

Yes I visited a place near Pranburi when buying whicker for the bar. They gave me a guided tour. Fascinating it was too. Then they fished an old Singer treadle base out of the loft which was thrown in for free, and I had converted to a table.

Well it saves getting out of a comfy chair to get your lunch. :thumb:

Snap Pete ! We overlapped - I was replying to Khundon. But yes, an old lady near us on Naebkerhardt used to wander in and collect up the newspapers. She always had a lot to say - often sitting on the floor - and we just had to nod and smile!

My mum made all our cloths on an old Singer machine like that, now the tables are in every pub you go in here.

The chippy that did some very good work for us in HH had some electric tools that were "State of the Ark" so as a bonus when I was in Homepro in Pathum Thani, I bought him a new electric drill and Electric planer as a Bonus.
The look on the guys face was magic, as he was an oldish chap and I don't think his boss paid him much.

Yes Don some of the tools and equipment you see in LOS - still in regular use - museum items over here! Sorry this is getting well off topic, but the old printing presses for one thing are still going strong. I once went to the Maltese Consul in Bangkok which had a whole collection of old typewriters, and a Gestetner duplicator. By heck that brought back nightmares!

Hi Margaret,

When we got married in Banglamung, (very modern office) our certificates were typed out on an old Imperial typewriter. :?

If it ain't broke don't fix it.

 and goodnight.
