Newish Japanese restaurant on Soi 94

Post by moja »

We went to the Japanese restaurant on 94 last evening - just over the railway line on the left side of the road.

Excellent food at very reasonable prices, the service was good and all the staff were very friendly.

There were 3 of us and we had, 8 small chang, a selection of appertizers followed by a selection of main courses and the bill was 650 baht.

Know of this place.

The owner is the son of one of Mrs.T's lady friends

He has spent the last three years in the States learning his trade before returning here to set up his own business.

Enterprising! Hope to try it when I'm back although Mrs.T has already been ther several times and I did sample some of the takeaway sushi - superb.

Thanks for the review Moja. The missus and I love Japanese food and it's nice to hear that there is a good one with reasonable prices, other than Fuji (which we love, btw).

There is a very small family owned sushi bar/Japanese restaurant (sorry, can't remember the name) in Bangkok directly on Sukhumvit road between Sois 24 and 26 (closer to 26) that is one of the best we've been to in Thailand and very reasonably priced. Highly Recommended! :thumb: :thumb:

Yes, nearest BTS station is Phrom Phong but it a little further out Sukhumvit from that. It's not far from Emporium and Washington Square.... a short walk from the Dubliner Irish Pub or nearly across Sukhumvit from the popular Soi 33.

That's great HHFarang, I know exactly where the Dubliner is being a plastic Irish man. :thumb:

I'm sure I can track it down from there.

This is a Happy day. Had lunch with the wife and was very happy with my food the price and the service. I have been eating sushi since 1968, I cannot say that this is the best I have had but it is very good for the money. The place is very clean and the menu has a small but adaquate variety. A piece of sushi is 19 bt regular rolls are 59-79 bt special rolls are 119 bt we ate like pigs for 500 bt The Name Is SAKURA SUSHI I will be back often :thumb: :D

Agree with that appraisal Fred,

Since the OP my wife and I have eaten there 4 or 5 times. I am always careful about eating raw fish in a place that may not know how to choose, store, and prepare it but I have every confidence in this place. The first time in I spoke to the chef and he told me indeed that he had spent three years in Chicago learning how to make Japanese dishes. They also have a small section of the menu that includes some western food but I'm afraid I will never get around to trying that.

I can't believe the prices. My wife and I went there for lunch today and had two appetizers, three sushi dishes (about 8 pieces each) tea, water and two Asahi Japanese beers all for 500 baht. Anywhere else I've seen Japanese beer they were 110 per bottle or more, here they are 50; usual price for Chang!

This place is now a weekly ritual for us (on the wife's day off). :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

Induced by the punters in this thread, I paid a visit to Sakura Sushi the other day.

Very, very good food, clean and elegant premises and very attentive staff.
On quality-to-price comparison this restaurant is a clear winner.
Best food for the least money. Good on them and us in HH.

After reading the above we decided to give it a try. Now we go a minimum of twice a week.

Great food, great prices, friendly owner and staff. Highly recommended.

I have now been there three times and have very much enjoyed each occasion.

The eating area is cool, open and clean.
The food is very good and excellent value.
The service is most friendly.

On our last visit, there were about 12 other customers and I was the only farang, so it seems that they have good support from the Thais' and this is good news for their future and continued success
