Recent break-ins at the Mountain View Vill 2

Post by faq2mfh »

Does anyone know anything regarding recent break-ins at the Mountain View Vill 2?
My wife’s brother who’s looking after our place called a few times saying there has been many break-ins in recent weeks. Just want to validate his stories…
Apparently people living at Mountain View Vill held a meeting with the developer (Tun) .

Seems to be an upsurge in the area in general with several happening in BaanThaiVillage (soi 126) over a spate of a few days. Maybe a sign of things to come.
Some of it seems to coincide coincidentally with changes in staff!!!

Be careful about leaving windows open during daytime believing that metal security grilles will protect you. My neighbour did this and went out for 3 hours on saturday. On their return the grille had been bent back and thieves had been inside and ransacked the place. And by the way, their dog slept in the garden while this happened.

My windows were open at the same time but I have an alarm fitted!

PM me if you want details of this.

Just ordered alrm systems for a couple of friends, one is already installed .I used to design them, the guy knows his subject and does not try to sell you anything you don't need .One other thing that surprises me is how few people have house insurance .A house valued at 5m excluding land costs under 6k a year .Cover is good .They even allow 10% of the total insured cost for damage to electrical goods from surges/shorts  I have claimed on the car a couple of times without any problem and in both cases it was my fault .Coincidently both times I was reversing out of a fishing lodge . Wish Terry would stop moving those palm trees around :cuss:

I've had my grills welded. Tends to put off the adventitious thief. At the end of the day if they want to they can, inclusive of alarm systems.
I've noted that a lot of the holidaying comany owning farangs are only too happy to pass on keys for maintenance and other activities while away!!!!

Been several burglaries lately where they lift off a few roof tiles, pop down onto roof supports, then down through toilet access hatch.

Our company installs alarm systems and are proving popular due to competitive prices. Also 20% discounts for HHAD members

Good luck with that method at my house as the eve is 10 meters from the ground!

I find that a hard wired alarm system on doors and windows, a motion detection system inside the house and on the perimeter walls, two dogs, and lots of yard lights on all night have (so far) kept us safe even while several adjacent neighbors have been burgled.

During the day I'm home 90% of the time as well as our trusted houskeeper and gardener (and don't forget the dogs).

All in all, you have to take precautions. When you make it more difficult to rob than the neighbor's house, the burglars will naturally go there.

In the U.S. I had none of the above... just had a Browning 9mm semi auto handgun with a twelve round clip (thirteen if you count the one that was always chambered) handy at all times. I felt safer with that than I do here with all the stuff I mentioned and it cost a lot less!

Get a fila brasiliero and bring it up well .Good luck burglars . Trip wires attached to grenades or land mines will make an inferior but effective alternative

If you need to fit an alarm system then why not go to home-pro.

They are not expensive and very easy to fit and come with full instructions in English.

If you can wire a plug then you should find this way easy,

I had to look that up to find out what one was, and it looks to me like you would spend more feeding that than letting your house get burgled!

For those that can't be bothered to look it up, a fila brasiliero is a massive gorgeous dog. A bit like a great dane who's worked out in the gym!!

I would suggest (sorry property developers) that you buy a house that isn't in a gated community with so-called security men.

We live outside Hua Hin and many of our Thai colleague worry that it isn't safe for us :? . We've lived here for 6 years, we have a very open kitchen with a microwave, TV, stereo, etc., and we've never been burgled. We don't have grills on our windows and most of the day it's only guarded by Rubble (aka snake wrangler). If you're not a snake or a cat, he won't bother you. The PYB, who lives next door, likes us - and I think he's spread word around not to bother us. We give the neighbours' kids some home-made sweets, and we pay them the going rate when we need something done, but we don't flash our money around the village.

I find it rather sad that grills need to be welded, or alarms need to be fitted, but I guess it's just a sign of the times... :(

Stay safe folks.
