2 Romanian women arrested using fake ATM cards in Hua Hin
The Nation Feb 22, 2009
Two Romanian tourists were arrested in Hua Hin Saturday using fake ATM cards to withdraw cash. A search of their hotel room found 140 fake cards.
Christina Marinela Budau, 22, and Iuliana Hogas, 21, reportedly confessed to police that they had been hired for Bt10,000 each by a British friend to withdraw cash in Thailand on the cards and transfer it to the friend.
The arrest resulted from a report by a card-theft suppression unit that female tourists had been using fake cards in Hua Hin since February 15.
The Thai Commercial Bank was checking if all the cards had been used, and police initially charged them with possessing and using fake cards to the detriment of others.
The women travelled from London to Thailand on February 14 and were scheduled to return on February 26, deputy inspector Colonel Ratthapong Kaewyod said. Police found they had been to Thailand in October, November and December, each time for one week or a fortnight, he said.
Police suspect they may have stolen Bt30 million.

Re: 2 Romanian women arrested using fake ATM cards in Hua Hi
If I'm reading this right, they were paid Bt10,000 each time they came out here with these cards, so this was the 4th time and police "estimate" they have stolen Bt30 million. The Nation wrote:......they had been hired for Bt10,000 each by a British friend to withdraw cash in Thailand on the cards and transfer it to the friend.

Usually an ATM will only let you draw out Bt20,000 at each go, so that's 1500 trips to/uses of the ATM.
On this trip/visit to Thailand they were caught after 7 days here, so, on the previous 3 trips of a week to 14(fortnight) days, let's take an average of 10 days a trip. That is then 37 days this crime-spree was technically "active" in Thailand.
That makes a staggering 40+ goes a day at the ATM of swiping Bt20,000 each time.

Busy girls and didn't get much for it. As usual, it's the idiots that get caught.
I think the math/s is right.

I was making the assumption that they were 'at it' on their previous trips here too, the Thai Policeman sounded like he was implying that.
Not sure! If what you say is right and it was just on this trip, then

Bizarre!

What sounds logical is that you are starting to get the Russian et al pro girls down there. Keep an eye out for 6' blond hair blue eyed beauties strolling in high heals and denim shorts that leave nothing to the imagination.

PS: Shhhh, don't tell a soul, they may be there to entertain the ASEAN guests.

Perhaps the 30 million is made up from other unsolved crimes the police want to close the file on
Nah, they are here to stay. The influx has begun. Hua Hin will inevitably be the next Marbella.prcscct wrote:What sounds logical is that you are starting to get the Russian et al pro girls down there. "There's no plausible or convincing reason, certainly no evidential one, to believe that there is such an entity (= deity) and that all observable phenomena, including the cosmological ones... are explicable without the hypothesis; you don't need the assumption."
Well I've checked both my Thai banks and western banks and so far I seem to be clear
You never know. Been hit twice before so I'm extremely cautious despite the fact my cards and pins are securely locked up and my pins are coded in my own version of binary so nobody knows. Sometimes I don't know!! Old age I suppose
