HELLO and gardener WANTED!!!

Post by pickySue »

hey everyone,

don't wanna chat a lot, am interested in a good gardener for my little garden here in hh. has to understand basic english and should do a really good job cause i am perfectionist. needed every three weeks to cut the trees and gras and to clean around the house. guess it will take about 4 hours. who of you knows man or woman to do that job. i prefer a professional who wants to earn something beside. otherwise i can do it better myself. time afternoon. hope you can help.

Well Sue, welcome to the forum!

I don't want to sound pedantic or facetious but a couple of points/observations:

- "don't wanna chat a lot", OK, well, joining a forum is obviously the way forward.
- Nice orange font colour, where did that come from?
- If you're a perfectionist then be prepared to be disappointed here.
- Gardeners that speak English, hmmm, another long shot.
- You want him in the afternoon, , it's scorching hot then.
- Once every three weeks for four hours, not very regular, I'd be surpised if he can be arsed to turn up.
- You may well find yourself, well, doing it "yourself."

Don't want to sound too negative and if replies are thin on the ground then have a look through some previous threads, maybe "Ask the Expats" etc, and you may find something.

Edit: Couple of typos

Welcome to the Forum

I hope you find it a very usefull source of information - it is the best and most reliable around.

Nothing wrong with wanting high standards, just a bit difficult to find around here.....

Avoiding the possible resulting frustrasion is an art form

Hi pickySue,

Both Spitfire and Sabai Jai were pretty accurate with their replies, but I would add one more thing:

If you want something done properly, then you'll have to be there to supervise the person - don't leave them to their own devices. When we lived in Nakhon Pathom we asked the gardener to clear all the weeds, fallen branches, etc. from our back garden. When we got home from work we found that he'd planted a garden of sweetcorn  .

I'd suggest buying a lawnmower and a few tools, so that you can do the light easy stuff yourself, and then pay a local strong lad to do the heavy stuff. Always under your watchful eye, of course.

Good luck,
