Current prices - How do they compare?
Hi guys,
After sifting through all of the posts in this section I have developed some sense of the bar scene in HH. Having never been to HH, I am curious as to how the current prices compare to those in Pattaya (a place I have been many times). I have found that there are always a number of bars in Patts that offer Chang and Singha for 35-40 baht all day, and some others that offer such during specific happy hours. Are there any such sweet deals in HH? Am I correct in my observation on this site that prices in HH are generally more expensive than Patts? Any suggestions as to which bars offer the best beer deals would be most welcomed.
Thanks a bunch!

I don't know of anywhere in HH offering prices like that but there may be somewhere.
The HH bar biz is not overloaded and cutthroat like P-town where it seems to be a race to the bottom of the price barrel.
Open air bar right near the Hilton (I forget the name) has draught Chang @49 baht but a small glass and it loses fizz quite quickly.
I'd count on 65-75 in most bars. Of course you can pay more if you wish.
BTW, U-Turn on soi Bintabaht is Canuck-owned, Craig from Red Deer.

"How do prices compare?" Well, badly is the truth but depends on what you are after. As Mr JK pointed out, you are , in Hua Hin, no longer at the bottom of the barrel. You'll be fine and have a great time, it may well be very refreshing compared to Pattaya, just don't have any expectations based on anywhere else. Enter with an open mind and you'll find plenty to do.

I can live with that
Thanks for the insight!
I could certainly live with paying 65-70 baht a beer for a nicer environment and experience
I'll have to check out U-Turn
Too bad the old saying wasn't "Free your mind and the beer will follow"
Thanks again!

Quite a lot of the Thai restaurants, such as along Poolsuk Road by the temple, and in the Night Market, do large bottles of beer for around 70 or 80 baht I believe, although I haven't been in a while. They can be good people watching places as well, although not bars as such. Some bars also sell the large bottles and they are normally better value, so that is an option if you are trying to watch the pennies.

Current Prices - how do they compare?
Agreed with Wanderlust on the prices at Poolsuk and Nightmarket eateries. Also they ARE good 'people watching' places as he says. Nightmarket places can get a bit busy and you don't like to occupy space for too long, but I could happily sit there long after the food is finished.
The Railway Restaurant prices are favourable as well, and you can perch with a good view down the market.
Beers at the Grand Market eateries also very cheap, but they are primarily 'eat up and move on' places.
So overall the better beer deals are to be had with food it seems. Find a nice quietish place on Poolsuk for example and you could easily while away a few hours.

Thank so much again!
Hi guys,
Thank you very much again for the very helpful insight! Ensuring I hit the ground running and not waste time at the less than ideal locations, or trying to find the more fitting places, is somewhat of an obsession of mine. Equally so is my (we'll call it a hobby) always wanting to find the best deals in town
I've pasted all of your info. into a file, which I'll print and bring along with me
The people watching venues certainly sound interesting! Beer, food and entertainment, sweeeet
Thanks again!

Hey CG, my personal favourite people watching place in town is Onn Onn Corner Bar.CanadianGuy wrote:

Good view of the main walking junction in Town, just an open restaurant but decent little place to start an evening drinking.

Khundon give you this link before http://www.mapjack.com/?3nyPUgRrfcvB
Just at the top of Bintabaht facing Wat Hua Hin, its on the left next to the Arch.
I dont know how busy it will be when your there but that's my favourite place to sit and watch what's happening.

I rarely eat on that stretch anymore mate, can get the same for same for less out of that area, but it's my favourite drinking starting point.johnnyk wrote: BaaBaa, was that you I saw slurping Onn's very good tom yom goong?
