Grand Pacific Sovereign Hotel Cha Am

Post by T.I.G.R. »

Here's a good experience to report. We had a friend leaving to go back to Sweden and wanted to treat him and his G/F to a nice meal.

We'd been in this hotel before but it always looked deserted and more than a year ago the prices looked pretty ridiculous in their Italian restaurant.

Went to check it out the week before our meal there and found the prices seem to have been adjusted to more normal rates and they now have a coffee shop, the Italian restaurant, a Dim Sum restaurant, and a Japanese restaurant.

We went there for lunch about two o'clock after a round of golf, just the four of us. We were the only ones there but they did have more people staying in the hotel and had just finished up some kind of event in the Japanese restaurant so the coffee shop was the only thing open at that time of the day.

We were there for a treat so three of us tried out the 560 baht filet with a red wine sauce and my wife ordered the penne pasta. All of the food came out at the same time, was nicely presented and delightful. I've been here nearly three years and this was the first time I tasted a piece of beef that made my mouth water. I could smell the sauce from the penne pasta and it brought back fond memories of similar meals we've had in the States......really, really good food.

Naturally it was nearly a three thousand baht meal, but there were many things on the menu for lots less; a hamburger for 220 for example.

All in all this was a very good experience in what I believe is one of the prettiest places to go to in the area. Hopefully once they get established they'll be busier and have some special events to attend.

In the meantime try it out if you're looking for something different....hopefully you'll be as pleased as we were.

Not familiar with that name... is it on the highway between Hua Hin and Cha-Am?

It's on Petchkasem north of Hua Hin, on the right hand side before you get to Cha Am. Red oriental style roof. The front entrance is actually off Petchkasem Rd. The "back" faces the Cha Am beach but has a very nice entrance, and the entrance to their Italian restaurant is there.

If you're at the Cha Am beach, get on the beach road and head south. It will be on the right side (of course) near the end of the umbrellas You can't miss it.
