Welcome to the forum and welcome to Hua Hin in November Steve.
You are right about the taxi prices.
If you are lucky you can get a taxi for around 1800 Baht, but normally they'll charge you around 2000.
More than that is a waste of money or lack of negotiation skills.
Some people will tell you that they only paid 1500 for the trip, nothing wrong with that, so did I 7 years ago.
The "normal" price is however between 1800 and 2000 for a Bangkok taxi, and around 2500 for a minibus.

Welcome to the forum Steve W!

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
