A Pardon for Thaksin?

Post by Spitfire »

Aug 1 deadline for the campaign seeking a royal pardon for Thaksin

The red shirts have set August 1 as the deadline to complete the signature campaign asking one million voters to endorse the petition seeking a royal pardon for ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra.

Red-shirt co-leader Veera Musigapong on Thursday distributed the forms for voters to sign the petition at the office of D Station at Lat Phrao.

Under the campaign procedures laid out by the red shirts, each form can contain up to six signatures and requires each voter to clearly spell out the name and the surname, the identification card number and a telephone number.

The signed forms can be submitted in person the D Station office or sent via the post office.

Interested individuals living upcountry can use photocopies or request for the form be sent via facsimile.

although we humbly abide by Your Majesty's discretion.

Sorry to sour your morning Buksi with this one. I wonder if they can actually pull it off or if it is just a cunning plan by the authorities to get Thaksin back in the country and arrest him. If he gets it then a few noses will be 'out of joint' so to speak. Interesting

With the royalists running the country behind the scenes at the moment there is no way he is going to get a pardon, but it will be an embarrassment to the government if they get a huge number of signatures.

Yes, true, it appears, and is being reported in the news, that Abhisit is already condemning them for politicising the "Royal Pardon" proceedure. You could well be right and that they are counter-attacking already to do damage limitation because they fear that the UDD will probably get the one million signatures etc.

It's going to be a strange dilema if they get the signatures.

Hmmmmm. We'll see.

Just a gentle reminder that there should be no discussion of The Royal Family on this thread.
Thanks.

My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
