King donates B1m for dogs

Post by yabz »

His Majesty the King has donated a million baht to create a foundation for stray dogs in the resort town of Hua Hin.

Rungroj Sriluangsawat, deputy mayor of Prachuap Khiri Khan's Hua Hin municipality, said the King donated the money from the proceeds of the sale of T-shirts of royal dog Tongdaeng to the municipality to set up a foundation to supervise the Hua Hin Dog Shelter, now home to 1,600 dogs.

The money was given to the municipality by Grand Chamberlain Distorn Vajarodaya.

The foundation, to be chaired by the Prachuap Khiri Khan governor, will be made up of representatives from the municipality, the Royal Household Bureau and Kasetsart University's animal hospital in Hua Hin, among other agencies.

The dog shelter was set up in 2003 under a project launched by His Majesty, who wanted the municipality, as a local administrative body, to play a key role in taking care of stray dogs in Hua Hin, which is home to Klai Kangwon Palace.

The dog shelter is on 20 rai at Wat Khao Itisukhato. A source said the King had earlier donated 4 million baht from the sale of Tongdaeng T-shirts to build fences around the shelter.

Maybe the money can be used to assist with the Vet training of the new Vet uni. annex (Kasetsart) adjacent to Suanson. The concept of de-sexing and euthanisation would be revolutionary here!

They need to have a look at the Wats also where many of these poor creatures are invariably dumped.

A worthy project by HMK pity the local council has been inactive for so long!!

My vasectomy was no revolution  Mrs BB insisted. I hope her thinking is no too advanced for a Thai to consider euthanasia.

At least a dog gets to lick them, before they are cut off.

Sorry, I'll get my coat.
I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.

Is it me?

Four million Baht to build a fence around the enclosure  OK, it's 20 rai, but surely concrete posts and chicken wire isn't that expensive. Is the money really being spent at the centre?

And another thing. 1,600 dogs!! I would certainly hope that they neuter all the males as soon as they arrive, and do the pups as soon as they can.

Bless the King for donating the money, but if I were him I'd like to have a close look at the books, and check out the management of the centre.

How about spending some of the money FORCING people to get their dogs neutered. No negotiation unless you have a pedigree and are a certified breeder.

VS - yes it seemed expensive. I personally would not want to explain accounting irregularities to HMK. Perhaps they have mistaken kangaroos for dogs?? Maybe they wanted to keep BB under observation after he started howling after the snip ha, ha??
