Given the pollution, is it safe to eat Hua Hin's shellfish?

Restaurants, food, beverage, hawkers, and local markets and suppliers. This is the place for discussion on Hua Hin's culinary options.

Given the pollution, is it safe to eat Hua Hin's shellfish?

Post by Sciamachy »

Does anyone know about recent tests of pollution levels in the sea around Hua Hin, and whether pollutants make it unwise to eat shellfish which filter the water.

Or better yet, has anyone tested the shellfish to see what lies within them?

Scallops are in season and they taste real good, but I have to wonder how much sewage and chemical runoff I am ingesting every time I eat one of them.

Does anyone know?

You could try phoning the Division of Public Health and Environment, Tel. 032 511-047 ext. 109, and ask them directly.
