MIL

Post by shunpike »

The butt of a million jokes: the Mother In Law! Low hanging fruit, easy prey I say. I loves me mum in law. She's Isaan Thai from Chaiyaphum originally. Married and raised a family in Korat City. Worked 24/7 to make sure her three daughters got a decent education. Never asks for anything but always quick to offer anything. She's quick to laugh, and slow to frown. Whenever she visits I try and press her to stay longer. She's tops!

How about your MIL? [/b]

She's alright, don't see her that often anyhow as I work about 300km away.

BTW, "How's your MIL?" glad you didn't put an "F" on the end of the title. Image Maybe that belongs in NCs  Image

You're a great one for the subtle touch BB... thanks for enlightening us with her deadness and the nothingness to do with you.

Mine lives with us, and we get along great. She cooks, and cleans, and planted a big garden.

She even takes out the garbage!

I love my MIL - I think I have posted on here before that she is one of the hardest working people (let alone Thais) I have ever met; she enjoys a drink, helps us out all the time (reciprocal) and I only wish that I could speak Thai to have a chat with her rather than the broken fragments we manage now.The mums of my previous two wives (one in UK, one in Thailand) were both dead, one before we met the other shortly after, so this is my first real experience of a MIL, so in my eyes Les Dawson and his ilk were wrong!

In Les Dawson's case it was definitely the way he told 'em, but apparently his MIL adored him!

My first MIL was an aging ex-Raj alcoholic chain-smoker who didn't survive our marriage by much (nothing to do with me!), my second was OK, but her daughter was a major error in judgement (both UK), my third (Thai) lives in Taiwan and Australia - not been back to Thailand in over 20 years - and speaks occasionally on the phone - perfick!

I must be very lucky, because from day one my MIL has been great.

Being a fair bit older than my wife, (I am the same age as my MIL) I was very concerned when first we met but I needn't have worried, as she and her husband made me very welcome, as did the rest of the extended family.

She is always willing to help us in any matter and never expects anything in return. No sick buffaloe in their family.

She talks to my wife and I everyday on the web cam and always has a smile on her face when she sees me. Her and her husband never interfear in what we do and always ask before they visit us, when we are in Thailand.

When I read the MIL horror stories (on other Thai sites) I'm glad I struck lucky.

Being 6000 miles apart, I can honestly say I miss both her and her husband very much and we plan to have them over to the UK for a few months soon, to show them our life in the UK and to visit my family, some of whom they have met in Thailand before.

I am used to foriegners in my family as most of us have travelled and married one but I am the first foriegner in my MIL's family and I thought that may cause a problem but the reverse has been the case.

Yes, I can honestly say I'm a lucky man, a fantastic wife and great In laws. :D
I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.

Mine is really a selfish bitch, which I have told her. I accept the fact that she is the mother of my wife but she knows very well what I think of her and why, which for some odd reason has made her respect me. She knows that I'll 'bite' back if she falls out of line.

Before she was top riding my wife, something she dare not do that any more and this is actually a big relief for my wife.
