Got to love the marketing! Free Fish and chips but a 200 baht service charge. A little transparent I'd have to say. :neener:
Why is it called 'after dark' when it really is 'after light'?

would it be possible that you could deliver the FREE fish and chips.
Thus avoiding the entrance fee.
And can we use the lokal pizzas philosphy. If it takes more than 15 minutes its free.
So if you deliver late thats free twice.

With all due respect, you anonymous ignoramus, it is manifestly apparent that the more than reasonable entrance fee of a measly 200 Baht has attached to it a condition of attendance at the pub. Your pathetic attempt to undermine what is another wise very well received event, supported by approximately 50 of our more genuine local neighbours, has been 'battered' herein! Jealous, by any chance?

Yup, terrible, isn't it? Can't have anyone making a profit, can we? All I can say is that I've been to 3 or 4 of these quiz nights and they've always been great fun. Totting up at the end of the evening, they've always been very good value for money too.

It does actually take time and money to prepare and present the quiz itself.
This is the way

BB

Some good banter and flak. Love it :D

I will miss out on this bonanza but will be down in HH from the 17th for a few days. Any specials then or thereabouts?

Got a rooftop suite available for 600 a night (including Kippers for breakfast served in the room with caviar and a vodka martini and a lush doll) ??

Last time I had F&C at your place was some months back. I was with HHSimon and in fact I had your excellent roast Sunday jobbie (Got your Yorks puds right now) and Simon had the the F&C. We shared and he took photos and they are now on your website

Ride on Bill you old bugger. See you soon

ps Who is your marketing manager now :D I was obviously not up to the job :(

Source: Wikipedia:

"Free lunch"

The "free lunch" referred to in the acronym relates back to the once-common tradition of saloons in the United States providing a "free" lunch to patrons who had purchased at least one drink. Rudyard Kipling, writing in 1891, noted how he came upon a barroom full of bad Salon pictures, in which men with hats on the backs of their heads were wolfing food from a counter.

“It was the institution of the "free lunch" I had struck. You paid for a drink and got as much as you wanted to eat. For something less than a rupee a day a man can feed himself sumptuously in San Francisco, even though he be a bankrupt. Remember this if ever you are stranded in these parts.″

Well that seems like sound advice from Mr Kipling [quoted above], but I have to agree with Hobiecat that a 200THB quiz entry fee is a bit of a bummer. I mean GBP4.00 for a measly portion of fish n' chips - no way! That was until I read "with Tartare Sauce".

Well that changes everything - This must be the best value promotion ever seen in HH this year!!! and all courtesy and with the compliments of mine hosts {fill in name here}. [Moderator*: Read the efn OP - it's BUFFALO TAVERN on the corner of Chomsin and Naresdamri Rd opposite the entrance to the fishing pier where the fishing trawlers come in. For takeaway service call 032-530087 or 086-6035335, excludes quiz nights].

I just wish I could be there for this superb "fish n' chip" event but I will regrettably be in England

* The usual brown envelope for the 'plug' at the Clock Tower on Monday night - OK?
It may be rubbish - but by golly it's British rubbish.
