A Dam Between Pattaya and Hua Hin ?

Post by Lung Per »

I heard that Bangkok is slowly sinking and in order to avoid flooding of the city there are now plans to build a dam from Pattaya to Hua Hin. Of course with a motorhighway and/or a highspeed train on top of the dam.
Whaddyaknow??

I've heard the part about Bangkok sinking and have even heard that they expect parts of it to be underwater in as little as 15 years, but I haven't heard about a highway dam before. I seriously doubt I'll seen anything in my lifetime.

It's taken them the entire 5 and a half years I've been living here to complete the highway reconstruction from here to Bangkok (not quite complete yet!).

Nah, it was talked about, but it has been decided to move the Capital to Phnom Penh, that is why Toxin is over there sorting out the details. 8)

Bit surprising, didn"t think it was possible for anywhere to sink lower than Pattaya

The latest is, that there will be a high speed catamaran on top of the dam.
I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.

Whazzup Lung Per! Bangkok is largely build on marschlands and @ some places it's been sinking about 2 Meters a year. And in some places just under 1 meter a year.
I can tell ya there no official Plans as yet! There are Plans by enviromentalists, water engineering experts who are proposing a Nehterlands type of a dam system to which stretches from Pattaya all the way along de SHorelines and a couple hundred miles Riva up to Petchburi even Hua Hin. without those Flooddams De Floodwatars would be inundating the entire Bangkok/Chao Praya Riva Delta from Samut Prakan all DA way along De shores to Samut Songkram.
(Taking a hit from herbal Cigarette) 2025 Imagine You are sitting @ Suvarnabhumi Airport waiting for your flight out. Suvarnabhumi Airport would be de last place of higher ground. anything South of de Runways would be innundated by 3 to 5 feett if not more of watar.

Got Boat?!

If it is sinking up til 2 meters every year they better build dam(n) fast :D

What I heard was that Bangkok was sinking 3 inches in average every year...

A dam will never happen, can you imagine how much co-operation that would require, la la land sort of thinking, another "Ministry of Grand Plans and Wishful Thinking" idea.

They can't even sort out a new rail line or re-pave the roads properly.

Brilliant, this should solve the youth unemployment problem with loads of Thai boys standing all night with their fingers in the dyke. I mean a Dam type dyke not the female version, or do I :?

It looks like the goverment could be getting ready for a major crackdown on global warming and they could establish Thailand as in international Hub for dam building
