They're messing with an institution now. The Singha calendar goes back decades. Hopefully this will be the final straw and these bureaucrats will be told to go stuff it.

Its becoming a sad world that we live in, but PC is flavour of the day everywhere. Better that they dealt with real issues instead.

Eons ago, in the early -90´s, I think it was, they advertised some ladies' underwear on billboards at the bus stops in Big Mango. This caused a big shock among the politicians, who said that that kind of pictures would be harmful for the youngsters as they could see almost naked women in them. The ads were duly changed, into Johhnie Walker or Singha beer or something other less harmful for the youngsters' minds.

Now these fine politicians have decided that these two combined are indeed harmful. The times they are a-changing.

you'll see a 'quick poll' on the right hand side about this issue. Yesterday at this time the poll had been voted about 300 times and the result was about 50/50.

This morning it's up to more than 3000 votes with the 'yes' vote winning about 75/25. 'Yes' meaning you support the legal action against Singha concerning their calendar.

No way in bloody H the general readership of the Bangkok Post would vote that way. The poll has been manipulated by the women with big, stiff hairdo's league.

FYI, here is the website for the man who made these calendars and did all the photography going back to the 80's. He was run out of the country by the authorities some years ago and has not produced them for Singha since to my knowledge.

Friends of the now unemployed models I wonder?

Strange that such anger can be manufactured in a country where people can lose their heads and other body parts by being in the wrong place at the wrong time, where working on sites can be 50:50 as to whether you get home, where a degree is only worth a job on the family farm, where kids are asked to forgo their childhood and work/beg, where the TV serials portray a way of life and looks that only a few self possessed persons can ever attain, where driving is a lottery in life, where yaba is an escape, where violence against others is not a rarity, where familial responsibility to spouses and children is on the wane, where dumping of unwanted animals in the bush or local wat is common etc etc.

These potentially "hairy armpitted/rotund/visually unattractive/confused sex" (if anything like their European counterparts) visionaries are in need of a dose of reality and IMO a re-evaluation of priorities.

It's enough to turn a man to drink ha, ha.

Well done Miss "S-ngha" can you send me an unabridged copy please so I too can feel outraged.
