Re: Pilots
Good luck with this. I would have been interested at one time, but I have lost my Medical, plus I am not in Hua Hin all the time.canthai wrote:Are there any pilots living in Hua Hin or Cha Am interested in a partnership in the purchase of a private plane? If interested please pop me a PM
Just in passing, you may be better off looking at the club in Pattaya, as they have many expat members, and the "right" connections.---if you get my drift!.
There is also a club in Chiang Mia, but I do not know anybody there.

Something else that has been ticking away in the back of my head:
I seem to recall reading some time ago that the law had changed regarding "aliens" owning private aircraft. This link may help, as according to the info on there, the law is very similar to foreigners owning land. Another reason why you should maybe look at an established club.

There is also some info here in both Thai and English:

The law has changed with regards to the number of registered flyers. You are only allowed (3) pilots to fly the aircraft but you can have more than (3) partners. Does not make much senses for the non-flying partners unless they felt it was a investment of some sort.

There was a expat pilot registered on this forum a while back. Although what his name was and where the thread is Buddha only knows ?
It was quite a while back. I remember he was looking to rent a light aircraft and fly it around HH. Maybe someone else can remember a bit more than me.
Sorry I cant be more helpful. Too much Sangsom im afraid..

An aircraft is a depreciating asset, just like a car or boat, unless you keep them for 50 years and they achieve antique status.
Rich enough, buy your own plane. Not rich enough, rent when you want to fly.
I can't see the benefit of an ownership-partnership unless you're also using/chartering it for commercial purposes as well as for personal use. Big potential headaches IMO. Partnerships that start well seldom end well. Pete

I beg to differ. Small private aircrafts appreciate in value since most small aircraft producers stop building them many years ago. Only recently are there a number of new planes on the market such as the Cirrus and Columbia. Columbia is built by Cessna. A new Columbia 400 will set you back around 1/2 a million US dollars. Partnerships in the ownership of small private aircrafts has been popular way of having your own aircraft without breaking the bank. You can fly the aircraft as often as you want. The more you fly, the more you put into the maintenance fund. It is a very fair and equitable solution.
