What are your favorite 3 bars.

Post by tuktukmike »

Ok lets have some idea what your favorite bars are in Hua Hin.

We can all get some idea if a regular pattern appears as to the top bars,

For me,

1 Funny girl bar, Great place to just chill out after a full day in the factory, friendly atmosphere and always made very welcome.

2 London Lounge, Bit up and down at the moment but can still have a good night there, also good food in the day.

3 Still working on this one.

1. London Bar - never a dull moment with Wij around. Lots of characters drink here. Food is good, plus the location, watch all the traffic up and down the Poolsuk. With the newly errected spirit house at Sub Days over the road, you can watch all the ladies preying before their shift starts about 6-7pm. Can choose your evenings entertainment from this "parade". umm I wunder what THEY are preying for?
2. All Nations - Have a jar and great food accompanied by a story or two from proprieter Ken, a former profesional cricketer and Nana bar owner. No girls here but a nice place to get away from it all or start the evening.
3. Coconuts - Good pool table, darts and excelent selection of girls. All seated in plastic seats, outside on the other side of the road . Have a drink inside, call over mamasan and take your pick.

honerable mentions go to
Jack bar
Romantic
Night Valentine.

Fav bars in Hua Hin

Post by buksida »

This one was already done here:

However it is a bit old now so a new survey is a good idea.

Sorry about that Buksida,

Never realised it had been done before, i am too lazy to trawl through all the previous posts.

But i do think if enough people took part we could compare with the official bar ratings site.

My point about the bar ratings is that you may have cheap beer, loads of girls and even good sports and late opening but if the staff are usless and the owners even worse who the hell would want to use it.

At least this way we get a broad opinion on the bars from a large cross section of users.

Hi Mike,
The bar ratings on this site are by no means "Official" They are just a rough guide and should be taken as such. Read this thread:

http://www.huahinafterdark.com/forum/vi ... .php?t=725

Its amazing how much criticism this site gets for those bar ratings. I agree they're a little dated but they are just a guide, everyone has their own fave bar for whatever reasons.

Hi Buksida (again)

I am not really trying to criticise the bar rating system on this site as i have seen other posts do, i can understand rating on drink prices to a degree but as i have said do we really care about the odd 5-10 baht differance for a beer.

Also many bars have changed hands lately ie Celtic, toro, and possably others, as you would i think agree this can change the whole atmosphere of any bar so maybe this should be taken into account.

Its no use walking into any bar whatever the prices and the number of girls if when you try to order a drink you are met with a blank smile.

But keep up the good work as this is a good site.

I guess that extra 10-15 baht does make a difference if you end up drinking 17 bottles then.

I'd like to know why certain bars (that will remain nameless) think they are that special that they can over price their beer.

1. London Lounge. Simply the best.Owner Wij a terrific guy.Best breakfasts.Best people.
2. All Nations Guest House.Have to agree with "larry dj",Ken the owner is a stand up guy, a pie menu, and kind staff, make this the best starting point in HH,or a quiet drink with the one you love(Or are going to love!)
3.Coconuts Bar - Jack Bar ( tie for third place)
Coconuts has great atmosphere and an abundance of girls.
Jack Bar is a great" hole in the wall" bar ,nice girls!!!
Honorable mention to P&P bar for the sheer quality of their girls.

Ian, I agree, P&P should get honerable mention for the widest selection of ladies outside of Bintabat. Interestingly, Bintibat bars are pretty low on this thread so far.

Hi Mike
I’m in England at the mo but a bit broke so not really up to much at the moment.
Last I heard of Bear was 11/2 years ago, he was heading back to Oz on family business, had a heavily pregnant missus in Udon Thani and was happy living in the sticks playing cricket with the local kids, but I’m sure a lot has changed since then.
Dunno about Shane as I fell out with him. Still see Jon Jenx and Gary Jarvis now and then and managed to meet up with Kieron last time he was here.Young Chris has never replied to emails and no one has heard from him since he returned to UK and no one has heard from Karl (actually Rhea may have) but I think Jon met his dad on a building site. As for the rest I assume you still know about them, Gary Jones(Bangkok nick), Peter (still in HH), Billy & Mags (back in UK for healthcare), All Nations Tim (Canada, Alex is doing well there BTW) etc…
Back on Topic my Number 1 bar has always been All Nations (when Tim had it), followed by Silvios (when Silvio had it),Sabai,Cheers Bar (when Dave had it),Willo’s (when Peter had it),U-Turn(original location),London Lounge and Billy and Mags various enterprises and also any of the late opening bars that tolerated us, Celtic (when Ann had it),Club 99,Puen Guesthouse(even though I got barred) etc…
And an honrable mention to the 7-11 on thanon Dechanuchit and especially their tolerant staff, where we would often go for a late drink. Definatly the cheapest so long as you don’t mind buying the odd Chang for the motorbike taxi boys who will often join you for a late drink.

There's bars I regularly frequent, get to know the staff and always feel comfortable in. Then there's bars I rarely, if ever, pay a visit - these bars might be fine but I just don't go into them.

My top three therefore comes more from habit than a true preference over other similar bars.

Anyway, here's my tuppence worth.

1) Romantic Bar - small bar and not a great number of girls but Pui the manageress has them well prepared before they start - they couldn't be nicer. Always friendly and never had a problem with the bill. Great place to start the night.

2) The Dubliner (Ship) - like the new layout, great girls....and fantastic sound system.

3) Nice and Easy - gone downhill a little bit on my last trip but still got great sounds, nice girls and late night drinking.

Mentions should also go to Jack Bar, U-Turn and P&P Bar.
Never trust a hippy....

My fav's are as follows (in no particular order) -
Nat bar - Friendly host, Thomas and a good viewing portal.
Jack bar - Mark's a good friend and the girls are also friendly.
London bar - Wij is a nice fellow although I fear he is having staffing probs at present.
