Advice for a first time visitor please!

Post by Gerry »

My wife and I plan to spend a week or so in Hua Hin (or nearby) in early February. I would really appreciate any suggestions for somewhere nice to stay - ideally close to the beach and within easy reach of restaurants etc without being stuck in the middle of the noisy bits.

I've seen lots of nice looking places on the internet but its hard to get a fix. What is considered expensive and what would be regarded as medium price at that time of year?

Are there any bars in Hua Hin that might show 6 Nations rugby? I plan to play some golf too, so any suggestions about where to play would be welcome also!

Thanks in anticipation.

Hi Gerry,

Welcome to the Forum.

I'm no expert on where to stay in Hua Hin. It might help others if you could state your budget, and what facilities you are looking for. One thing you can be sure of is that there's plenty to choose from. When you have identified where to stay, you can book here using this link http://www.huahinafterdark.com/hua-hin- ... okings.php

Most bars will put the sport of your choice on, providing somebody isn't watching something else. Don't be shy - ask.

If you want to learn about the local golf scene, pay Bernies bar a visit. It can be found on the right hand side of this map http://www.huahinafterdark.com/map.htm

Welcome

I guess Johnny Walkers will show the rugby if you ask them

Enjoy your stay :D

Thanks a lot for the advice and tips on the rugby. We'll stay somewhere decent but hopefully with a bit of atmosphere too. For example the Yaiya is quoting around 70-80 Euro a night and it looks OK. Something in that qualty bracket I guess.

I don't know what the euro/baht exchange rate is at the moment, but in stirling terms that's almost £80 - which would be quite a high nightly rate. I'd expect a pool and some meals included for that price range.
But if you're happy with the look of the place and it's the location you want - and only for about a week - why not! Enjoy your stay

About 4000 baht per night? If that's your budget then you can stay anywhere you choose really but to be honest with you, you can get cracking digs for half that amount. Anyway, welcome to the forum and I hope you have a great time :thumb:

My choice would be Jed Pee Nong - a poolside room at the back. Right in the town centre with no meals - but a huge variety of good eateries in staggering distance!

No, No, No!!!

Stayed there for one night on 7 December. Dreadful place. Unsmiling reception, no help with our bags, crappy room, the only good thing was that the missus bartered down the price by 500 baht.

The one with virtually the same name next door seemed better, beginning with Baan, but for 2k or even less (PP Villa?), there's gotta be a better choice.

Hi, the jed pee nong is a good little hotel for the 1000 baht you pay for a room but for 2000 my choice would be The Wannara on Naresdamri rd , a fairly new hotel which is modern , very clean and great staff, but best of all its beside McCartneys bar , probaly the best little bar in Hua Hin
