Metal fabricators (copper)

Post by velboy »

Hi,

I'm looking for a decent metal fabricator who can speak reasonable English or a least understand my drawings.

I would like to get a small heat exchanger device made up in copper. Very simple 180mm length 76mm dia with a 10mm dia length of copper coil in it 2 inlets and 2 outlets. Brazed up and pressure tested to 30psi for barrel.

Thanks in advance

The welding shop on Naebkhehars Road, North of Chomsin Rd., just past the Library, should be able to help you. He does a lot of work for the fishing boats, and speaks reasonable English.

Why am I not surprised??? Most of them find it hard to think outside the box.

What about Stainless Steel? There are several shops about doing that.
Although, you would have to be careful as a lot of it is 304 grade, not 316.

Hi,

It's basically a instant hot water shower using the the engine coolant to transfer the heat so copper is the best material for heat transfer and non corroding.

There are several manufacturers of these things in Australia. You could probably have one, or parts of it, posted here.

velboy :)

Now I can see what you want it for.

I would have a real problem with this item if I had it made in Thailand.

30PSI with hot water, may class it as a pressure vessel. I expect someone in Thailand could fabricate it but could they carry out the pressure vessel tests required to issue a proper certificate. I doubt it.

Better and safer to buy from abroad.

This one has a good reputation in Australia. I have stuff posted over from time to time and have never had a problem. Except that Thai Customs always want a donation!

I was only going to accept it after viewing the pressure tests myself, but as suspected the less than helpful/useless fabricators here have solved that problem for me

What a suprise the customs want a donation. For the UK just write a sample on the declaration sheet and no problems
