It would help if you could say what beer you drink, and whether bottled or draught.

...and where. Bars, restos, discos or 7/11?
Small Chang in 7/11 about 28 baht.
Small Chang in yuppie tourist clip joint? Whatever they can get from you for offering such an exclusive and unique 'venue'.

Yep varies a lot depending on where you go, IMO this is a rough guide for a small/large bottle of Leo, Chang or Singha:

7/11 or shop: 30/50 baht
Local restaurant out of town: 45/65 baht
Small restaurant in town: 55/90 baht
Hostess bar in the nightlife district: 80/n.a. baht
Large tourist restaurant in town: 90/150 baht
Swanky bar or after midnight venue in town: 110/n.a. baht
Large hotel: 200 baht+

The sidewalk BBQ chicken place just south of San Paulo used to sell large Leo for 45 with food. That was the cheapest I ever found for a bia yai.
They have since upped it to 55 if I recall. Still a deal and the chicken and som tam are good.

I think Carlsberg moved out of Thailand a few years ago.

You may find Carlsberg in some of the supermarkets but as BB has said, they pulled out a few years ago. Don't worry though because the Thai beers are good.

Don't forget, Beer Lao is now majority owned by Carlsberg. However, with the new ASEAN free trade agreement I haven't seen it being sold in more places here yet. :( Pete

I have a fridge full of it. I buy it by the case(s) from Lao every time we visit the in-laws. It's all I drink at home.

By the way, something many of you Beer Lao lovers probably don't know is that they (the Lao Brewery) now make five beers:

The normal Beer Lao

Beer Lao Light

Beer Lao Dark

And a premium beer that I have never seen in Thailand (except in my fridge) called LaneXang

The one with the elephant scares me HHF. Perhaps Chang on steroids?

By law, they should be able to sell all Beer Lao in Thailand now duty free. Regardless, I think the Singha people and others are doing some pretty heavy duty blocking as they know it will put a huge dent in their revenues once it's widely available here. I wouldn't put it past them to tell their distributors, "...you sell Beer Lao and you lose us..." Pete

I like the LaneXang better than the regular Beer Lao (of course the dark is my very favorite). It (LaneXang) is a bit dryer and crisper with the same great overall flavor as the common Beer Lao. It is the premium beer in Laos and costs more than the regular brand, but I don't think they export it at all... maybe some day. I've drank a lot of it and it doesn't give me a "Beer Chang hangover" like the local brew.

Guessed as much. You really should try and have the occassional glass of water, juice, milk, or even a cup of coffee every now and then too :|
