Music Venues (Thai)

Post by Pagey »

Not been to any Thai venues for a couple of years but bringing a Newbie from Tuesday so was looking at somewhere different from Binta Block for the odd night.

Is the Blues Station still open and the ranch style place with old juke boxes outside near Kim's Kitchen ?

Steve G also mentioned on another thread " Music Rooms, Pluawan and a couple of other Thai venues and they're busy every night and absolutely packed at the weekend'. Where are these and are they suitable for Farang ?

Also best night to go to Him Nam Suay ?

Thanks.

Music Rooms is a big terrace lounge bar type affair on the main road next to soi 32.
It looks like a mainly Bangkok crowd and decent enough.
Pleuawan isn't a bar, it's a Thai attraction which we have a seperate thread on somewhere.
I pass by a couple more Thai venues on the way into town and I'll have a look later to see exactly where they are.

Thanks Steve

Only online for a few more hours until I can access internet cafe (computer in bar somewhere  ) as I fly out tonight.

Has nobody been to Blues Station recently as at least that is in town and walking distance and it did have a couple of farang in last time I went although the Thai venues only get lively as I am ready to go home............... :banghead:

Pagey,

I've been to Blue Station quite a few times but not in the last 3 months. It was and almost certainly still is going strong. There's a very entertaining kid who does the final set around 3am. He's not on every evening and I think he misses the Friday (can't remember for sure), but he absolutely packs the place out - standing room only, kind of thing. Beats Luknam hands down IMHO.

If you do a quick search on my posts and find a reference to an incident at a bar on Tang Rot Fai, then that was at Blue Station but I didn't want to draw too much attention to it in the public forums. When I have been there I have most often been the only farang in the joint. Samor Liang further south on Tang Rot Fai gets more these days. I've introduced quite a few Thai to Blue Station, which always amuses both me and them!

Hin nam sai suay, I can't offer any guidance, but there are other newish places up around Soi 6 you might find worth checking out.

Regarding 'Pluawan' (actually PlearnWan). They do have a bar upstairs which has an excellent Thai acoustic duo (recording artists from Bangkok) on the weekends. I would quite recommend it on Frday, Saturday, Sunday. It's popular.

Also, you might check out '100 Pub', which is at a new location next to the Music Room Pub.

Music Room is DJ only, with a very occasional night of live music.

Also LukNam Pub on the Pala-U road is notable.

Finally, there's a free show every Friday evening at the Queen's Garden park at Soi 19

Hello everyone,

We are from Holland and we have visited Plearnwan. Not only because Thai people say it is nice to visit, but also because we had heard it was wheelchair accessible. So my husband and I checked it out. And made a small you tube video. Have fun, we can recommend it. It is a nice place to visit.

Do you want to know more about the wheelchair accessibility of Hua Hin take a look at our weblog http://wheelchairthailand.blogspot.com . See you in Hua Hin.

From watching the video posted above, it's good to see that they're making newer attractions in Thailand accessible to wheelchair users as I'm sure it's something that didn't get enough attention in the past.
