Pound Sign?

Post by PeteC »

I just noticed there are two, at least on my currency symbols keyboard: £ and ₤. What is the difference? Pete

There we go, thanks BB. That must have caused confusion supreme in many cases if the person's handwriting wasn't clear. Pounds and Lira.....a big difference, even for a cup of coffee.  Pete

A coffee in St Marks square in Venice costing £10 would cost about 23,000 Lira. Sounds a lot don't it.
Most little shops back then would not give you change for a note but give you a handful of sweets instead. :?

But it's all Euros now, so no sweeties and I really miss them.
I've lost my mind and I am making no effort to find it.

I remember once entering Italy and paying a road toll and getting sweets in my change, which confused the hell out of me at the time.

I've got neither on my keyboard... where did you buy your computer/keyboard Pete? :D
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

It's a Mac and under the language changer there is a character viewer for all manner of things you can insert into text, currency being about one of ten categories. Even the ฿ is there. Pete

Yes Pete :agree: maybe we will see some of the old currencies coming back but I'm not holding my breath.
