Hua Hin to Pattaya Ferry online booking

Post by Lev »

You can now book the Hua Hin ferry to Pattaya direct on HHAD:

http://www.huahinmedia.com/huahinferry.php

The page contains the latest schedules and prices and your enquiry will go direct to the Hua Hin booking office which is run by our partners in this venture; Mermaid Cruises.

I like those photos of the interior, I haven't seen any up to now. I had visions of rows of seats like the ferries plying Chinese waters, which this ship may also have? This vessel looks a lot more comfortable and sociable.

It may be a good idea to do a seating drawing by deck and put it on the web site, to give folks an idea what to expect. Not absurd to say they could also have 1st class and economy seating if there is a demand and space.

One question, what is the square plastic trough in photo #1? Pete

The boat was built brand new in Thailand especially for this service, so this is its first commission.

There is no economy seating, it's all first class

To describe the seating briefly, there is sofa-type seating, plus aircraft type seats, some semi-reclining, some of them in rows facing one way, others face to face with tables in the middle.

We'll post a pic of the lounge seating shortly.

That 'square plastic trough' is the stairwell down to the port side engine room.

Thanks Barry. Are there also seats behind those small oval windows on the catamaran wings? Pete

As Lev has said, Mermaid Cruises & HHAD are now partners for the online booking of the ferry service in either or both directions.

So book online at http://www.huahinmedia.com/huahinferry.php.

For additional information on transfer services, schedules, cancellations, etc., you can contact me as below.

Don't know if I've understood you correctly, Pete, but the counter on the pic with the 'square plastic trough' is on the inside of the port side oval window of the pic with the closed outside door.

No, I meant the oval windows visible from the exterior photo of the boat, four per side. Just thinking there could be a row of seats there both sides. Pete

OK sorry, forget that Barry. Those areas either side must be where the engines are based upon the inside stairs, not seating. Pete

Correct - they just provide light below deck in the engine room area, though one of the toilets (excuse me, bathrooms  ) is located below deck on the starboard side.

OK, more questions. Is there a set 'condition' factor when the boat will not run. In other words, maximum swell, wind, rain?. As we get into the summer and rainy season months, you can have ominous looking conditions on the Pattaya side, but going just a short way to the Pattaya outer islands, it's smooth as glass.

I guess a better question is where are the areas of most concern, coastal one side or the other, or in the middle of the crossing? Pete

Hi Pete,

I feel that getting too academic about it might confuse (potential) passengers more than it might help them.

Swell, wind and waves are obviously the major factors - rain on its own less so.

Ominous looking conditions don't necessarily mean very bad conditions at sea, e.g. a very black sky could simply mean a passing shower.
And I don't really want to get involved in onshore and offshore winds here, for example.

The long and short of it is:
If it is felt that the conditions are such that the crossing would be too uncomfortable for the passengers, the crossing is cancelled (even though the boat could handle the conditions without any problem).

The motto is: we want passengers to enjoy it, not endure it.

I've just come back from Koh Phangan (Lomprayah Catamaran) and it was rough waters. Everyone was sick. I'm just wondering what your toilet facilities are like? :D

Good luck Barry in your new venture for the New Year......It really looks good.

Cheers, Alan (remember me, I'm Terry's friend & you bought the metal roof from my wife's mobile dog shop?)

Hi Allan,

How could I forget - and the roof is still in operation on our workshop area.

Thanks a lot for the greetings - hope to see you again some time, maybe at Terry's when he gets back again.
