Beer Lao Dark now in Hua Hin

Post by brianks »

I brought from Bangkok 3 cases of Beer Lao Dark to the restaurant in my complex Orchid Bistro. If you like or would like to taste the Golden Brown Nectar (best beer in SE Asia) come by soon. Last night the builder and some of his buddies drank over 30 bottles of the beer from the Gods. Hopefully I will be able to bring some every month from Bangkok on my monthly trip to Bangkok as long as the source has it available. May bring some of the lager also next month.

Certainly is the best SE Asian beer in my opinion. I prefer the dark the dark stuff myself which has no competition in these parts and the regular light beer beats the pants off all local brews.

Just so's you know, you can get both beer lao's in sara janes restaurant on the poonsuk rd and in at least 1 bar that I know of on Soi Bintabaht, Nat bar I think near the hilton end.

Where else?

Beer Lao dark is definitely the best dark beer this side of Munich! Happy to hear it's starting to come into Hua Hin. I've been asking bar and restaurant owners to talk to their suppliers about getting it for years. I usually bring cases of it back on our annual trips to visit the family on the Lao border and drink it at The Big Mango off Suk 4 in Bangkok whenever we're up there.

Just realized that I don't even have the correct name for the restaurant in my complex that has the Beer Lao Dark. Its the Palm Bistro & Wine Bar.

I remember going on the Hash to Vientiane and falling in love with beer Lao. So I carried a case with me over the bridge after the weekend's hashing only to be told later that 6 cans was the max you could take out of the country then ;)

Happy Days :)
My mind wandered and never came back :(

Thanks for the info. Where in C-A exactly?

I couldn't really tell you sorry. It was a lucky stop in the Taxi on the way down from the Airport.

All I can say is it's on the beach side (so a left from BKK then it's on the right) and it's about the size of a big 7-11.

Hua Hin Farang may know.

And I remember going to Ventiane and falling in love with a Lao. If there had been a case of her likes I would gladly have carried them over the bridge, but I was told the max I could take out of the country was one. After due consideration I did leave her behind in Ventiane. Thought the missus wouldn't approve of my import.

I've never come across it but I generally prefer darker beers having been brought up on English bitter, so next time I'm back I'm going to try and find some.

I'll like to try a drop of the dark stuff as well, had the lager and couldn't see what all the fuss was about?

So has Chang but what does that prove nowadays. Give me a Tetleys or John Smiths any time and I just don't care about the awards. :thumb:
