Sorry Pete - won't be joining this one

Cricket - although I am English - I just can't stand the game.

Also as I am working in Delhi right now (Not much longer  ), I am of course in the land where it is a religion.

92 TV channels in my hotel of which 20+ are showing cricket or cricket related shite.

These coming few weeks are going to be hell on earth for me..................... :guns: :guns: :guns:

As I'm just a beginner with this sport I haven't yet gotten to grips with the scoring. Why would Superbru ask for 'runs' and also 'wickets'? Wouldn't runs alone be enough to determine the pool winner for the match? Pete

I was trying to work that out as well, Pete and I think it's just easier for people to score by picking the two possible results. I initially went for either a run or a wicket victory in the matches, not both. The program prompted me to enter both for each match.
If I remember rightly, imagine the following scenario. England bat and get 100 for 1 in their allotted overs. Australia go in and get 101 for 9 in theirs. Aus win by 1 run.
OR
England go in and get 100 all out. Australia get 101 for 2. Aus win by 8 wickets, which would be regarded as a sounder thrashing, not by 1 run although that's a margin as well.
It's not that often that good sides are going to be all out in their innings though, so wicket victory margins won't happen so much in them.
Think the above's right?

At the bottom of the 'view picks and result' page, and probably other pages, there is a link, "how does the scoring system work for cricket". You'll find the below quote along with many other things concerning scoring. Pete

"For each match, you will predict:

* The game outcome (team 1 win, team 2 win or tie)
* The margin of victory (i.e. runs difference AND wickets difference*)

* In cricket the judge of victory is determined by the coin toss, and as we won't know until each game starts how the victory will be determined, you must pick both options."

Since I have you here, going off topic a bit as easy in this section. Did you see the thread from the guy looking for a dog trainer? I thought with your background in HH with Dawn you may be able to give him some contacts? Pete
