Best builder for swimming pools ?

Post by Johan »

Hello,

I'm going to build a swimming pool, i already asked some shops but i would like some shared experiences.

Who is the best builder ? What are the prices ? How can i get the best price ? How long it takes to complete a swimming pool ?

I'm thinking of a swimming pool of 12x6. Do you use a liner ? Something else ?

Any of you have a picture of their swimming pool builded in Hua Hin ?

Prices are very high in Hua Hin, i looked at french websites and for exemple on this one you have a 12x6 swimming pool for only 9400 EUR : http://www.mad-piscine.fr/kit-piscine/p ... d-plat.php

Another at 9600 EUR : http://www.piscine-center.net/kit-compl ... m/215/1668

Quotation at the shops were more than the double of that. Also, do you have a Jacuzzi / SPA in your swimming pool ?

Are you guys using chlorine or salt in your swimming pool ? Do you have any protection for the rainy season ?

I know i'm asking a lot of questions but i really don't want to get ripped and i have no idea what are the real prices.

I'm going to order the swimming pool this next week end.

Thanks for the answers.

You are not doing a fair comparison though as the prices you quoted are for DIY kits using polystyrene blocks  as formwork.
If you read the small print carefully :
'Not included in the kit: the concrete and scrap metal for the blocks and the bottom....'

That's right, i will try to check french prices for cement pools. Also, any of you tried to build a "waterfall style" swimming pool ?

I like this style but it's maybe too expensive for my budget :

I've posted this before from a Pattaya company, to be used only to get a rough idea of costs, size and design. Pete

Woaw, french prices for cement pools are very high, for a normal 8x4 very basic is 25 000 EUR, so yes, thai prices are a little cheaper :

a 25k€ on a un bassin rectangulaire basique,enduit et filtré en 8x4
a 40k€ on a un bassin forme libre ,enduit, filtre et pac
a 50k€ on a un bassin forme libre a debordement et son equipement equivalent 8x4
a 120k€ on a un bassin equipé haut de gamme a debordement

Thanks for the link.

It's worth getting remote controlled option for pool lights and jacuzzi pump imo Johan, it's one remote controller with two buttons for lights + jacuzzi. Bit of additional cost for small electronic components, but nothing major.

Also if you're on a budget and looking to reduce costs, one thing I would not compromise on is the tiles. They're an expensive component of a pool if you get quality one's, so people look at cheaper tiles sometimes, but imho they make or break a pool, if you excuse the pun.

Make sure they fit a hydrostatic relief valve in the floor of the pool, to stop it trying to float when empty of water and there's pressure from ground water...

Simpler water features are ok, think you have to have a big old garden to pull off the one in your pic. I'm not suggesting this actual style, but it gives an idea...

I contacted a company, they offer a 10x5x1.5 with all the stuff, overflow swimming pool for 650 000 bahts. The "high end" shops are quoting the double.

It doesn't really matter who quoted that Johan, but 1.3M Baht will not be the price of the pool building companies in town, as Platinum Pools has suggested. You can build a 120m2 villa for that.
