Im in the process of writing a novel which, although Ive had positive expressions of interest from one publishing house, would rather "self publish" via the Amazon/Kindle and Barnes&Noble/Nook route. Im pretty sure I can match the marketing skills of some one size fits all publishing house using targetted marketing in the steampunk community online.
After taking advice on this one of the key elements would be getting a good quality book cover done by someone with graphic design skills (ie you can use Photoshop well). I could try doing it myself but my skills are well dusty.
Id be looking for a book cover design along the lines of one of these:

- the covers for The Martian Ambassador / the Affinity Bridge / The Osiris Ritual are the sort of thing Im intending..... Victoriana Steampunk - as that is the style of novel Im writing. I know what elements I want the cover to contain and can give a thorough pen picture of it...I just cant be arsed spending valuable drafting time with designing the cover.
If anyone has these sorts of skills and would be willing to have a go (for reasonable dosh) PM me and when the draft is finished and being proofed I can drop you a line and set you running.
Im also up for offers of people who want to proof read the first draft and comment on it before I finalise it. Its a steampunk novel - like League of Extraordinary Gentlemen - so if thats your bag (retro-sci-fi boys own ripping yarns stuff) again PM me and Ill chalk you into the process.
