Bike Accident at Grand Condo U Turn 1130am

Post by fach3003 »

Hi All,
on my late morning trip with the wife and kids
to tescos in Cha am...
i saw the aftermath of crash
As i was approaching i saw it was a older farang lying in the road...
with a green Isuzo pick up with a big bash down the side...

By the time i got there the locals where trying to carry the man
with bad head injuries under the arms....
i was running up shouting at them to not move him...
people where just standing around doing nowt..
A thai man and myself got him down...all i could do was talk...
im not a doctor or paramedic...
Couldnt get his ID as he wouldnt let go of his bag...

The next near 10 mins were a bit grim....
eventually the police and ambulance came
ive had my fair share of bike injuries on track
and i was a bit shocked how he was treated
no Drip ...just not very carefully put on a stretcher
and whisked away...

This gentleman could be someones husband , dad etc...
He couldnt speak due to the bad injury to his head
no idea where he was from
I was more worried about keep him listening...
i would say he was 55-60years 14stone near 6ft...
grey hair and blue eyes....he was wearing a blue.white shirt
and shorts....i know this could be of few folk here...
He was riding a Honda Steed Chopper style Black / Maroon tank

He was on his way back to hua hin i believe...

I hope he recovers but he wasnt in a good way as they took
him away....

Just thought someone my need to know...

Fach :(

Sounds a bit grim fach3003 but at least you tried to do the right thing and would have made a difference.
I hope the chap pulled through.

Hi RC cheers...
i would have regretted not stopping...

A few things got me a bit furious though
the pick up driver didnt seem to be that bothered
and another farang came to 'see' if he was ok...
it was obvious things were far from right...
He left quite quickly on his scooter...
not before his thai partner had took a few snaps
on her nokia ...Lovely ....

but it didnt bother me at the time...
kinda had more important things to deal with!

I do hope he is ok....fingers crossed...ill probably never find out

Fach, I've had the hostility from Thais at an accident scene. It's almost like they think you've come to steal their place in the limelight or something dumb like that...

I was just thinking, I couldn't see any mention of a helmet on the OP.
Was the poor guy wearing one? Had it been ripped off etc?

It's not hostility. They just get pissed off with a farang getting involved, because remember, Thais know everything and Farang know bugger all. :thumb:

Lucky anyone stopped at all. Have noted they are into gawking not exclusive to LOS. Yeap pics are always good to show to the friends and maybe make a quid if sold to Thai newspaper.
Rescue chaps usually like the blood and guts for a trip and as for helmets - 90% would fail any "standards" test as they buy the cheap 199 Bht jobbies from Tesco.
Always surprised as to why LOS is not in the first world given the acknowledged experience and nouse of everyone born in the Kingdom!
