Re: Hua Hin Immigration
Yes you can.
The requirements will be
Form filled in and 1,900THB
You've got to be over 50
Financial requirements either 800k THB in a Thai bank account or an Embassy verified letter that you have a minimum average monthly income of 65k a month or a combination of savings and income as long as that totals over 800K
A mug shot
Photocopies of relevant passport pages.
That should do it. I don't think I've forgotten anything.

Maybe only the amount of time it has to be in a Thai bank account prior to the application ....lomuamart wrote:Yes you can.

You need to have a Non-Immigrant "o" Visa

Re: Hua Hin Immigration
800k must have been in the bank for 3 months prior to your application with a letter from the bank confirming this and copies of all pages of your bank book to prove it.
Proof of where you are staying

Re: Hua Hin Immigration
For the first extension, the 800K only has to be in the bank for 2 months. It's 3 months for subsequent extensions, but to be on the safe side, if local Imm have their "own" version of the rules, I'd err on the side of caution and ensure your 800K was in the bank for 3 months anyway. You can't lose that way.
Thanks to other members who correctly pointed out the omissions I'd forgotten in my first post.
BTW, you're best to get the bank letter on the day you make the application and ensure that it tallies exactly with the amount shown on your bank passbook.

Re: Hua Hin Immigration
If you get the visa on savings and income then there is no money deposited in the bank, correct?

Re: Hua Hin Immigration
The savings part has to be in a local bank.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?
Re: Hua Hin Immigration
hhfarang's correct but the money dosn't have to be seasoned for 2 or 3 months. It could have been remitted the day before application.
Re: Hua Hin Immigration
Yes. What they said.
Technically it's not a visa, it's a one year extension of permission to stay to one's non-immigrant 'o' visa. Or something close to that :-) A true retirement visa (type O-A) must be obtained in one's home country.

Re: Hua Hin Immigration
Are you saying that's the the immigration policy or that's how it works in practice? I went to HH immigration 2 weeks before I applied for the first one year extension to my non-imm 'O'. I was using the combo of income and bank balance account. The combo method does not require # months seasoning, according to official policy. HH Immigration told me 2 months. I've read that some offices do not require seasoning.lomuamart wrote:hhfarang's correct but the money dosn't have to be seasoned for 2 or 3 months. Haven't read a single forum post on the thai visa forum which said anyone was successful getting the extension using only the bank account method that hadn't been seasoned 2 / 3 months.
Re: Hua Hin Immigration
It's policy and I'll try and dig out the relevant police order tomorrow. I probably wasn't too clear but if you're using the combination of income and savings method there should be no need for seasoning. If it's purely on savings alone then they do have to be seasoned.

Yes, if it's income, then no need to leave it sitting in a bank. Also, a few thousand baht can cause people to not notice certain dates and etc.
