Pattaya to Hua Hin: Jetskis cross the Gulf for HM the King

Post by buksida »

On May 1 Royal Thai Navy Marines commander Vice Adm. Pongsak Purirot overseen the start of ‘Cross the bay to follow the King’s footsteps’ which entailed 84 jet skis traveling 220 kilometers from the Sattahip naval base to Prajuab Kirikhan beach in Hua Hin.

Vice Adm. Pongsak recounted that on the 19th of April 1966 HM the King had sailed a boat named Veka that he had constructed from Klai Kangwol Royal Palace Hua Hin and came ashore at the Toey Ngam beach in Sattahip.

HM the King had also dressed in the uniform of a marine for the first time and graciously erected the marine flag at the beach creating deep appreciation and gratitude to all the navies and marines at the base.

Over 500 Jet Ski riders and general public participated in this auspicious occasion held under cooperation of Thai Beverage Company and Thailand Jet Ski Free Touring club. The fleet was well guarded by a naval ship, aircraft, and specially trained troops on the outbound and return trip.

Shame the submarines have not arrived. Their deployment would have been essential for such a dangerous mission

Wonder if they checked the jet-skis for damage before they rented them.
