Lurking in the shadows....
Lurking in the shadows....
Hi, I've been in Hua Hin now for about a month and have been regularly reading this forum and found it really useful. Though recently I've started to feel a bit like I'm spying so thought I'd come out of the shadows and say 'Hello', and to say thanks for all your help with my stay here so far and I hope to even contribute a bit myself now that I've come 'out' (though I've only got 3 weeks left....booooo).
Cheers!
Kate

Re: Lurking in the shadows....
dtaai-maai, I found the forum useful in many ways, from restaurant suggestions, good bars, interesting stuff about the Thai way of life, but the two 'biggies' were - finding out that we could extend our 2 month tourist visa by going to immigration here in Hua Hin and get a month's extension just by doing a bit of paperwork and paying some cash - well worth every baht as it means we get another 4 weeks in Thailand (we were/are extremely happy) and the other biggie.....finding out that the bars shut for a couple of days over the election.....we will start stockpiling shortly.....
Thanks all!
Thanks all!

From an Aussie perspective I would begin consolidation now.
If you have it it will be more than Aussies that want a coldie over a dry period!!
Welcome

Welcome also Kate.
Rest assured you will not go short of a libation over election time. Might have to travel a click or 2.

Thank you all for the warm welcome.
Crazy88, you said 'might have to travel a click or 2'......really? Are there places? You talking half a mile down the road or crossing the border? (Possibly a tad drastic, I know.)

A few hundred yards covers it in most cases Kate. Further than that from town and you will have no worries getting a tipple.

once you cross the railway line most restaurants will be operating as normal!

Welcome Kate
As others have pointed out, it will only be the central bars, supermarkets, and 7/11's that abide by the law. Everywhere else will be business as usual.

Don't try to impress me with your manner of dress cos a monkey himself is a monkey no less - cold fact
Re: Lurking in the shadows....
Thanks for all the info. We have tended to stick to round the centre of town really so it'll make us spread our wings a bit....
