It's not in Hua Hin but there's a country park to the south of Cha Am where you can stroll around a resonably large area. If you head north out of Hua Hin, it's on the left with a sign and car park on the main road a couple of km before Cha Am town.

Yes Steve, that's one of the nicest parks in the area and there is a very good and cheap Thai restaurant in it too (if it is still open, haven't been there in over a year).
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

HH, you get to Pranburi Forest Park by taking the next left after the turn-off for Khao Tao / San Noi and taking the back road that goes to Paknam Pran.
I can't remember the exact route but the park is sign-posted.
Basically it lies on the coast just north of the mouth of the Pranburi river.
Good information and directions coming from the above posts.
This is one of my 'pet hates' as such. The Thai and Farang real estate business assume that every piece of available land MUST be built on to achieve it's potential, thus leaving not a decent available spot of nature (parks) left to do the sinful acts of.. football, picnics, camping, a run, a run for the dogs, frisbee etc etc.
I HATE real estate agents in Thailand as money is their only driving force. I PITY farangs that have got into the game as they have been blinded with the fortune they may achieve by destroying a few more acres of nature. It really wouldn't matter if the farangs did it or not because eventually the Thai's would do it anyway....
I just thought (would like to think)that WE as people who have grown up in a society with good education (free) would continue with the kind of 'ethics' we were taught from birth - but NO!. Many people want to jump on the bandwagon to recieve their profit whilst destroying nature.
If it's within arms reach, there's nothing to worry about!!
South on Petkhasem, turn left at soi 101 for Kao Tao.
Go over railway line and turn right at junction towards Hat Sai Noi, follow road to Milford, pass Milford condo on left, keep going along the coast and it will bring you into the Mangrove & Forest Park.
You can also go round the boardwalk through the mangrove forest, it's all free and very interesting if you like nature

I went that way looking for your place the other day, Barry. I have been that way before also, but there is a bloody great boom gate across the road, complete with an uninterested guard sitting in a small hut! So what is the story? Can anybody get in that way, or do you need an armed guard with you?

Another location not so far away where you can have a pleasant wander around outside is Mrigadayavan, the old palace on the way to Cha Am. It's a museum now but it has large, well kept gardens as well.
You get to it by turning into the second military base on the right heading towards Cha Am.
There is an entrance fee but I don't remember it being much.
Obviously with it being a palace, you're expected to behave yourself and I don't expect that they would like your kids to play football on the lawns or anything of that nature.

Ok, thanks, guys. Might be a good idea if there was some notice to that affect at the gate. If I see a such a gate I respect it and turn around. In fact there is another gate near Sai Noi (sp) beach, but it is fairly obvious that it belongs the the Royal Family.
