ATM Thai bank account charge changes

Post by Spitfire »

Thought that this was worth a mention/announcement, sure some of you are already aware of it but it might help others too that don't know.

It appears that if you use your Thai bank card in a different Thai bank's ATM machine then you are allowed to do it 4 times a month with that card for no charge, the 20 baht fee has been dropped for 4 times a month.

I went to a Bangkok Bank ATM and used a Kasikorn card in it today and the message came up on the screen that I wouldn't be charged for 4 times I used this card at BBK Bank ATMs to withdraw, also later used a Krung Thai card in BBK Bank ATM and said the same.

Haven't tried another bank's ATM yet, but definitely the case with BBK Bank ATMs.

Worth letting folks know though, even if it's just small change.

Thanks Spitfire, worth knowing.

I'm with Kasikorn as well and noticed this week a 200 baht withdrawal at an ATM which is interesting as I'm not in LOS at the moment. When I quizzed the K-folks they said it was the debit card annual charges, I suggested that maybe they should flag the transaction as 'Annual Charges' to save everyone's time as it looked exactly the same as a normal ATM withdrawal.

When I use my Kasikorn card in HH there is no charge, but when I use it in BKK 16Baht is added on.
It's still better than the 14 Euros my Spanish bank charged!

16! Mine was 10 baht last time I used it out of area. Ok 6 baht more isn't much, but it is still a 60% increase!

@Kalbow - I've been caught out by that in the past too. To say that the charge is poorly documented is quite understating it. I think they always have the code 09001A in the right hand column of the book (if you get it updated) - but there is little else to distinguish it from a normal transaction.

Sent some cash for a purchase the other day to Bangkok Bank from Kasikorn. Considering I had just drawn the money from the atm I fail to understand why it rejected the notes 4 times :banghead: and charged me 50 Bt per time. Then there was the 70 Bt charge for the transfer so I put in another 100 Bt to match the due amount and it charged me 50 Bt on that so I had to put in another 100 Bt
