Condo rental
I am coming in next week to lock in a 6 month rental. I have contacted a local agent with a basic 20-30K per month request, near the beach, 2 bed, 2 bath, furnished with a community pool. I was informed 50K was more like the price which I thought a little high. Do not want to drive so I requested it be near shops and the a short distance to town? 50K a little high??
Re: Condo rental
Shop around. Different agents offer vastly different prices. Something like "The Breeze" will cost you about 25-30.000 but that is in Khao Takiab. The same sort of thing in town will be 5-10.000 more expensive.
Re: Condo rental
For the main drag in a quality complex 50k is not high, far from it in fact. A friend of my mothers rents her 100 sqm unit out at 90k with consistent results. No seaview either. Those units go for more. Takiab is cheaper for the same quality of units and has plenty of shops, bars, restaurants and IMHO a better all round atmosphere than the town centre where I can only think of Condochain or Sports Villa as budget options. 20-30k and any agent will find you a villa on a secure development with communal pool and faciilities, with a private pool at the mid to higher end of that budget. I am not allowed to give you links to property companies on here and not sure if a PM is allowed either. Send me a text and I will text you back a couple of outfits that I have dealt with for many years that have good, proven reputation. If thats not allowed Mods then please delete the details.

There are a couple of sponsors on this site that have good reputation and track record which I think I can name freely. Hot property and Room by Room. Give them a try.

When you say you don't want to drive - does that mean travel in general, or drive personally. There are many, many places where you can get a 50 baht motorcycle taxi or 100baht tuktuk if it is simply something like drinking and driving being an issue. Those charges can be pretty easily offset by the savings you would make in rent by being a little less convenient for the centre. Thais in general work 24/7
- well, at least there is almost always someone available when there is a fare to be made.

Had enough of the trolls. Going to sleep. I may be some time....
