Hi from Khon Kaen

Post by sateeb »

Hi All

I am seriously considering moving to HH in the next few months. I have lived in Khon Kaen for the past 7 years and feel that I need a change of scenery.

Any advice/reccommendations re reputable rental firms would be greatly appreciated.

I am looking for guaranteed long term furnished rental for me and my Pug puppy.

Thank you in anticipation.

Welcome Sateeb. :thumb: In addition to the replies you'll get from members, take a look at the right of any page, Sponsors List, Property and Home.....and perhaps start with the three property companies listed. Pete

Many thanks Pete....I have been looking with various rental properties.....Are there any that should be avoided? I guess private messages would be best for the last question......

The most important thing is to decide where you want to live and how much you are prepared to pay. Town centre to visit the bars regularly? Farang gated community? Countryside? Beach? Then tell the agents you choose exactly what YOU want, not what they want to give you, plenty to choose from.

Thanks for the advice.......20,000baht p/m will be my limit....preferably out of town within 10/15 mins drive. I have stayed in a house at Sunshine Mountain in the past 6,000baht p/week but they are not interested in long term rentals as the owners generally visit for 3 months of the year.

By the way, when I stayed there my neighbour was a Kiwi guy who worked in Real Estate he gave me his business card but I lost it. He's a pretty big guy, plays golf and had just bought a new Camry. If that rings any bells could you let me know who he works for as I would like to get in touch.

Thanks again folks

Hi sateeb, and welcome. Unless you really want/need to have a rental agreement sorted out before you arrive, I'd recommend waiting until you get here and spending a few days looking round. There are plenty of really nice places on the edge of town or just outside under 20k per month, but I would guess most of them are private rentals.

Good luck

Thanks DT

Will def not sign any rental agreements before I come down there for a viewing trip. Not sure if I want a private rental as up here in Khon Kaen ther have been some instances of people signing long term agreements then being thrown out after a few months because "House Sold Mister...you go now...."

Hi there and welcome to the forum.
It's certainly worth taking a look at private rentals, it can happen as you mention but I've had the same house for 7,000 bt a month for over eight years now, with no problems and no rent increases, so it can be quite a saving.

There are many rentals for 10K and less but you won't find them at the real estate offices. Word of mouth and looking around on your own is the only way. No reason to pay 75K a month like some of those advertised.

The place I have rented is ideal for my needs for less than 20k....fully furnished to a good standard, pool and garden maintained and a 12month renewable contract. I've seen too many horror stories up here in KK about private rentals like piss poor furniture,no maintenance and unscrupulous price hikes to name a few. So I guess I have peace of mind and will choose the path I have taken.
