Cutting Up You Tube Videos
I use You Tube a lot. Sometimes I watch a clip, say 3 minutes long, and it turns out that I just want a piece of the clip. Is there a way to cut it up and just take a section of the video.
Re: Cutting Up You Tube Videos
There is, but you would have to figure out a way to download the video to your computer and then use any number of video editing software products on it.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Seems complicated (I have no computer skills at all)....
Give me a '....For Dummies' step by step approach and I'll figure it out eventually.

There's loads of addons for Firefox that allow you to download from youtube.
Re: Cutting Up You Tube Videos
You Tube used to have download software available free of charge. You should then be able to use Windows Movie Maker to crop the download, which will already be available on your PC.
I also use Prism Video Converter, which is also free to set the format I need. However, there are numerous freebies available.

this free software will download the Youtube video for you and convert it to a format of your choice
You can then use a variety of programs to crop it
have a look on the download site for free video editing software

Gaz,
You have posted a 'duff' link, so you could try posting the correct link. You were probably registered before the anti-spam software was installed.

What sort of time have you got it down too GQ, 30 secs? 20secs?, no less surely... bet your girlfriend just loves youGLCQuantum wrote:I use You Tube a lot. I use this 'aTube Catcher' free download program which is a basic and quick as you can get I'd have thought, you just open it, press capture and just drag a window to whatever size you want to copy on your screen. Picture and sound quality isn't the best though. It's basically screenshot/capture but moving and handy for short, unspectacular events... I use it at the end of each football season to relive the yids' best moments

If you wanted to do a bit more than that like editing clips together, adding music etc then I, as a complete novice, use Moviemaker whih came with Win7. I'm sure there's other video editing sweets but it's dead simple to use and add effects and stuff, been playing around with short video clips since the littl'un started rampaging about you can download it free here depending on your OS. I've just done a video 'clip' for my local and put it back on YouTube, although it's more a video of pics than anything else, which pleased a couple of the staff when it came on the large screen on a packed night, I won't link directly to it but it can be found lurking in here
Enjoy your moments my friend
