Reggae Fest Cha am - Trouble ?

Post by fach3003 »

Hi all,

I generally keep away from the beach at weekends
due to the unflux of BK thais etc...it gets busy!

Heard there is a Rock / Reggae festival
over the weekend with about 80-100,000
expected folk coming here....

Even more reason to keep away....

The missus came home from work last night and
recons a local has been shot in the head....
and is brown bread

Since then my neighbours have mentioned 8 have
sorted themselves out so far...(could be made up mind!)
by crashes / fights etc dunno

All sounds a bit mad to me...

Any heard anything?????

Regards to all

Fach

Lots of violence and a few deaths last year at this event too, if memory serves...
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

my wife said her caddie told her 8 people had died too; but watch out spreading this around as some of these rumors are just that, not based on fact.

I looked every where on the internet when I got home and didn't see any news reports of it....nothing in the Bangkok Post either.

Let's hope that HH sticks to golf, regattas, elephant polo and Jazz festivals. They have a good thing - why ruin it!

Trouble? Apparently so...
Brawl at Reggae Concert on Cha-Am Beach Leaves Hundreds Injured
UPDATE : 5 September 2011

A brawl broke out at the 3rd Annual 'Reggae on the Rock' music festival held on Cha-Am Beach in Phetchaburi Province, leaving more than 200 people injured.

A large brawl broke out at the 3rd Annual 'Reggae on the Rock' music festival held on Cha-Am Beach in Phetchaburi Province over the weekend.

Thousands of people traveled from Bangkok and the surrounding provinces to see the show.

The brawl was started by a group of teenagers who attacked each other with various types of weapons including knives, machetes, and firearms.

While no one was killed, more than 200 people are believed to have been injured in the incident.

Authorities struggled to contain the situation despite having deployed more than 500 police officers and security volunteers in the area.

The violence continued late into the night, even though the concert ended at 11 P.M.

Hundreds of instigators were arrested and taken away in police trucks.

The music festival series has been held for three years now. Each time, the event attracts massive numbers of young people.

The violent incident was not the first of its kind for this concert series.

Third Annual festival, not the first violent incident......... doesn't exactly promote great odds for a peaceful day out!! WTF do they continue with it? :?

in the future i think these concerts should be made a alcohol free zone,

ie; anyone bringing any gets it confiscated ,no bottles allowed only plastic ones ,that would reduce the threat of been hit with a bottle.

there were hundreds of under age kids there with bottles of whisky ,boxes of beer

it was crazy seeing kids who could hardly stand never mind walk ,acting like t@ts

i cant see this being on next year unless the organisers make drastic changes

It seems like this and the Honda fest in Takiab in June are like spring break (USA) to Thai teenagers.

If only they could design some tablet that would stop kids from feeling the need to get pi$$ed up on alcohol, give them a sense of unity with their fellow revellers, and maybe even make them dance good no matter how bad the music is.
