Bread maker needed.

Post by Vital Spark »

Hi, does anyone know where we could buy a bread maker in Hua Hin? Our trusty machine has finally bitten the dust, so we need a replacement.

I know we could probably buy one in Bangkok, but lugging it on the buses is a bit of a pain. We'll be coming down to Hua Hin some time this month, so it'd be much easier to buy it there.

Alternatively, if you have a bread maker gathering dust in a cupboard, we'd be interested in buying it.

They probably have them in Power Buy - a new shop since you left Hua Hin. It is at the end of Soi 88. I will call in sometime this week and have a look for you.

Hi VS, hi Moja,

As far as I can remember, I haven't see one at Power Buy. Nonetheless this place is to be checked, I believe this is the shop where you can have the best chances to get one.

I know it's not in HH, but you might consider ordering one online:

Panasonic SD 2501 - it's hard to beat.

Available on e-bay or source a Panasonic outlet.

Have just been into Power Buy and I am afraid there was not a bread maker in sight and judging by the blank looks I got it woud seem it is not something they stock here in HH.

Thank you for all your replies so far. Moja, you're a honey. You've just saved us a wasted few hours trawling Power Buy. Lots of thanks, Farang, for pointing us in the direction of a purchase on-line.

Any more suggestions, or sightings of a bread making machine are still welcome.

PS: Moja, is that your little dog in your avatar? He's so cute, he looks like a Beagle.

Will keep on looking for you as the other half is sure he has seen one somewhere recently????

No that is not our dog, but he/she is similar to the dog we had in the UK. We have a Thai dog here

If you dont have any luck VS, then maybe some pushing and pulling on the dough will be a theraputic alternative? - I usually make mine that way and find it quite relaxing (and you can always think of some of your favourite bloggers as you kneed the dough!!!). A 1kg bag of bread flour is enough for a large loaf with enough left over to make a 12" pizza base - and will be much better than anything you can buy. You will of course need a bread tin (and a pizza tray), but I am certain they are available in HH.

I always enjoyed making bread by hand, as you mentioned it has good therapeutic purposes!
I used to make it when I lived in Maine, in the winter, and the smell would be fantastic!!

You could try Big Kiang on the main street opp Market Village, I am sure I saw a bread making machine there......if not try Pure Electric next to Index. I do remember seeing a bread making machine because I had one before I moved to Thailand and it was the same "Kenwood" I think!

I make a loaf every week here in HH, wait for it to cool and then slice it and stick it in the freezer and take out 1 or 2 slices as needed - it make the most perfect toast!!!

Doesn't that defeat the object of making your own bread, Dannie? :)
This is the way

not really because the taste is much better than anything I can buy and it is available whenever I need it and defrosts within 15-20 minutes.
