Can anybody recommend a roof repairer - with all the rain yesterday evening we sprang a leak and now have a sorry-looking ceiling and of course, somewhere on the roof where the water is getting in. We have a 2-storey house so it needs somebody with a suitable ladder to be able to get up on the roof.
Many thanks

Re: Roof Repairs
DB: buy yourself 'weathercoat' paste and get a handyman to apply it to the top-tiles of your roof.
This prevents the water from sipping through.
We're using it for years and apply it every two years. Do not use cement.

Any idea where to buy it Icebear? I still need to get somebody up on the roof to see if they can find how/where the water is getting in, although today's rain (much lighter so far) has not seen any penetration.icebear wrote:DB: buy yourself 'weathercoat' paste and get a handyman to apply it to the top-tiles of your roof.

Re: Roof Repairs
Your house should have a ceiling hatch in one of the upstairs bathrooms or hallway. He'll go up that way first to check for light leaks (or active water leaks if raining at the time), and any stain trails previous rain has left on the inside, and where the water has hit your plasterboard ceiling. He'll then know what he has to do from the outside. It may just be a matter of realigning some tiles that have shifted. Pete

Re: Roof Repairs
thanks Pete and yes we do have a hatch into the roof in one of the other bathrooms. I did try to take a look myself but only have a small pair of steps and couldnt see over a wall in the roof space to the area where the offending leak is, but I am sure that a local (half my age and weight) will be able to nip up and identify the problem in next to no time.

Market Village. 2nd floor for example.
As suggested, if you're able to narrow it down to a few spots where the leaking is, the better for the handyman.
By the way, there is 'SIKA' product very similar to the weathercoat, but a bit more expensive. Also buy a flat brush for applying the product.
