Pool Construction. How much?

Post by MrPlum »

Need a rough idea of how much a 4m x 10m x 5' deep pool would cost to install? Have already been quoted 700k, which sounds expensive. Or is it? Should I use a dedicated pool company or a builder?

I've posted this link before and they are not in Hua Hin. It does however give you a ballpark figure for the different sizes and designs. Pete

Pete, those prices on that web site seem pretty cheap. I had some quotes a couple of years ago and I think Hua Hin prices may be quite a bit more.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

Probably so. That place does a lot of volume, about 600 pools and counting from what I understand. The non-discounted prices look around the range of what Mr. P was talking about. Pete

Just to clarify, the question is for a friend and the pool will be built outside Hua Hin. I've passed on the details posted here. Many thanks.

Another question. What kind of problems can arise from poor workmanship?

I know of one pool where the builder, apparently used cheap glue to seal those blue pipes together and after a couple of years, the pipes separated and leaked. How do you protect against this?

I've heard of pipes leaking, the pool itself leaking, tiles coming loose, sandwash crumbling, pumps failing, etc., especially when they were put in by a general builder and not a pool specialist. You need someone who knows what they are doing as well as to use the best materials, even if it costs a little more. The "cheap" pool builders cut corners just like the cheap home builders and that will result in maintenance problems later.

The problem here is determining who knows what they are doing. Talk to a lot of people who have had pools for a year or two (or more) if you can and see who hasn't had any problems and who built their pools.
