Post office tries delivery but I'm gone for a week ...

I know the post office leaves a form if I'm not home when attempting deliver a package sent via EMS. What happens if they leave the form and I don't come home for a week or more? Do they hold it, charge for storage, return to sender, or what? Package is coming from the US of A.

They'll keep it at the post office for a while, but I'm not sure exactly how long. No storage fees.

We got a notice about something we ordered from Bangkok last month and my wife went to the post office the next day and it had already been returned to the sender because the PO is so backed up and crappy here now... in other words, by the time you get the notice, it's too late even if you are in town checking your mail daily. They have been hopeless for the last couple of months. You would think Hua Hin had been flooded!

USPS said the package cleared customs yesterday at noon, so I won't get to learn what happens if delivered when I'm out of town. Unless delivery takes them until next year.
