Hi Exbrit. The question has to be asked"when was you last here???" I'm sure you're aware its pretty much the high season and prices always go up.If you last visited in say July, then that would account for some of the increase. That said,to charge double does seem a bit extreme. Can you name the hotel in questuion??????

The way I read the question was that the room rate doubled on the 15th and 16th Jan 12, making exbrit wonder whether there was a special holiday on those 2 days. So IMHO the question is whether there is a public holiday on 15 and 16 Jan 12?

I just don't know. I was simply trying to interpret the question.

Don't be sorry, I hoped exbrit would have clarified his question by now.

Chinese New Year is the 23rd so it ain't that. Maybe it's a hoteliers convention to decide on room rate increases to compensate for the lack of tourists?

According to my brand new 2012 Thai calendar there are no holidays on January 15 or 16.
My brain is like an Internet browser; 12 tabs are open and 5 of them are not responding, there's a GIF playing in an endless loop,... and where is that annoying music coming from?

On my calendar there is no public holiday, but the 16th is Teacher's Day, so perhaps all teachers from Bangkok come to Hua Hin.

I thought my question was clear, but to add to it, the daily rate was quoted the same before and after the 15/16th of Jan, and just doubled on those days. Sorry for the delay. I'm in Canada.
